Ataman AP16 Compact - wow!

I have all 3 pistols. If you seek the best IMHO go and buy a Steyr LP50 HP. VERY Well worth the money and it's pretty ridiculous how accurate it is for a 177 semiauto pistol at 50 yards and beyond. Buy a lot of magazines like at least 10 or 20 extra. You will probably not have any interest in buying or shooting any other pistol after this one unless you are an avid collector of lots of different guns.

My budget is within $1,000, is EdGun Veles better?
In addition, if the Steyr LP50 HP is significantly more accurate than a $1,000 pistol,
I might consider,
Because the price is really high

Check with Krale first and state there are no dealers in the USA say Precision Airguns and Supply (USA Steyr dealer) is no longer in business and if that's a no go then buy from Balistas. There's Penchetta to try too. He can get whatever's for a price.

...I checked Krale first, before I posted that reply...I never heard of those other merchants...thanks for the head up...

The EdGun Veles is a really nice pistol, but you'll have to search the used market to get one as they haven't been produced since the Veles was morphed in the Leyla 1.0. I had to post several WTBs before I was able to source one. I have a Huma reg installed in mine and get about 20 shots with JSB 15.9 @ 725fps. It's very accurate out to 40 yards and if I do my part I can get groups almost as tight as a rifle.

Pilkington is a Steyr dealer ask them for whatever you want. The Steyr PRO-X is listed on their website with $0.00 showing as the price as of now. (NO probably NOT FREE)

There's actually two US dealers I am aware of. Pilkingtons is one, the other is Champions Choice.

...I feel like a chump for panic buying but am glad to see the AP 16 going strong...

...maybe parts will flow again soon...

...then again I can now see how/why parts soddenly dried up, too...

...I had hoped Ataman was up to some new great thing thing but it looks like it is just bold new graphics...

...I did get an apparently nice pistol and the extra standard barrel has proven remarkably actuate as well...

...looking at the new videos on the new AP16 threads I do wish I had just held out for a titanium standard...it looks nicely dark...

...the $$$ I could have saved would have paid for the extra tank and magazines @ Krale...

I enjoyed my Standard 8" Black AP-16 so much I decided to use the Pyramyd Air "Pistol Custom Builder" and build me a 6" version. I have been shooting both for about 6 months using the Hades .22 Cal 15.89 pellets, Holosun 507C Red/Green Dot sight and a Huggett moderator.

They shoot very accurate, the 8" will shoot .75" groups and the 6" will shoot .85" groups at 25 yards. I am sure they will do better as I develop better pistol shooting habits. Shooting these PCP pistols has made me a better shoot with my powder burners too.

I can shoot the Ataman AP-16 any day of the week in my back yard as the Huggett moderator keeps the sound level down. I get about 3 magazines from the 6" tank fill and about 4 magazines from the 8" tank fill.

I would recommend the Ataman AP-16 to anyone that likes to shoot pistols and wants to get better at their skill level.

Hello BadImpact,

I have shoot my 8" barrel AP-16 at 50 yards and it shoot under 2" groups. I know it can do better, but at my old age, the eyes just do not work well enough to shoot a pistol at further distances.

If you put a little 6 or 8 power scope on the pistol that would help for those longer 75 to 100 yard shoots.

I got mine for pesting, shooting close around my buildings, the furthest I have shoot at pigeons and gofers is about 30 yards.

After about a month of shooting my 8" barrel AP-16, I loved it so much, I decided to get the 6" barrel. Now, I just shoot whenever to practice as they have both help me with my shooting of my powder burners.

I also looked at the HW44, it was a close call at first. Then I looked at silencing the pistol, so I could shoot it around my place without disturbing the neighbors. I was not sold on the only silencer for the HW44 came with the gun.

I have several DonnyFL & Huggett moderators and knew at least one of them would work, if I had the capability of mounting it on the pistol. Donny makes the adapter for the AP-16, so I can use any moderator and it works the best with my Huggett.
