Ataman AP16 Compact - wow!

I de-tuned it for a few reasons. To shoot in my backyard it needs to be almost completely silent. I'd prefer to get more shots per fill compared with power. 500 fps with 15.9gr pellets is plenty for 15-20 yards.

Raining like crazy today but I decided to shoot from the breezeway to keep dry. Shooting the Leshiy and Evol at 45 yards and thought I'd see what the AP16 could do at 500 fps. This is in pistol form, not the P2C, with a Burris 2.5 - 8 handgun scope. Turned the scope up to 8x, dialed in about 15 MOA of elevation (from Chairgun) and I was popping shots off a bag at 45 yards. A lobby shot I could watch the whole distance it travelled, but it was pretty accurate at the distance. I'll try it again when it's not pouring and my targets aren't soaked with rain making it impossible to see the shots.

...no, I'm not out...pretty pissed off aboot the delay though...what else is there that is really like the AP16...???...LoL...

...I did look for something else but everything is sold out anyway...LoLoL...!!!...

...I did note that at Krale some AP16's are listed as "discontinued"...

Hapo - it's a bummer your first experience was a lemon. I've had two good experiences so far because you are right - there really is no other PCP pistol quite like the AP16 for compactness and lightness. The HW44 is much larger and heavier.

Maybe all the Ataman stuff has gone out of stock because they are either 1) doing a new production run and a new batch will be available soon , or 2) they haven't done more runs of the AP16 because they have new stuff in the works. Only time will tell.

I was looking on Krale last week and they had a .177 silver compact with walnut grip for around $960 so I pulled the trigger. Just arrived today and I was blown away to see that it came with the matching Ataman silver moderator (SCORE!). Will give more impressions once I get some time with it.

I'm buying a 177 too if your review is good. I have 2 of them in 22 both long and short and...

Yo - I'm not blown away by the .177 version. It's only pushing the JSB 10.34 gr pellets at ~640fps for just over ~9fpe. I'd have been happier if it was up around 12-13fpe. So it seems the .22 is a bit more efficient with pellets. Accuracy wise it is hole in hole at 15 yards and doing 1-1.5" groups at 42 yards with a 6x scope. I think a bit more power would help the pellets at longer ranges. It's pushing the 13.43 gr JSB pellets at ~570 fps so I may use that for longer distance plinking.

That's really messed up!

Is that screw in TP restrictor removed?

Maybe it's similar to the BP17?

Just found out how to adjust the reg after pulling it apart. It's super easy and only requires the air cylinder to be removed. 2mm hex straight into the air input to the gun, make sure you know where the screw is stock, and a quarter turn CCW and I'm able to get the 10.34 up to 700 fps. Reg seems to be around the 140-150 range now and I'm getting about 15 solid shots at that speed. Still some messing around with different tunes to see what I end up with.

Been messing around with tuning for a decent speed along with good accuracy and efficiency. At first I thought there was something up with the barrel or maybe some moderator clipping as I could not get 7 shots to land in a single hole at 13 yards. This was the JSB 10.34. Tried the 8.44 and hole in hole. Tried the 13.43 and also hole in hole. Something about the 10gr JSB it just doesn't like.
