Ataman AP16 Review

Good luck.

I've tried the single slot version from Pyramyd Air. Seems that the angle of the lower receiver groove isn't steep enough and doesn't grab the 11mm groove on the gun very well. Tap the sight and the whole mess falls off. One of the two is "slightly" better at staying in place, but I don't truste'm.

Was going to give a little file work a try to deepen the groove. Haven't done it yet.

Let us know how they for for you.

As recommended, I dug into my AP16's trigger tonight.

Yea, much easier to see what's going on...when you can...see what's going on.

Much easier to adjust things properly when you can see what each thing does and exactly what each adjustment does. I can also see that the safety shaft can actually be fine and out of the way for one shot, and actually cause unwanted friction on the next shot. It's out. Not sure I like the big holes in the action now though. Too late to do any shooting tonight. Will filler-up and do some shooting tomorrow, make sure of what I did tonight is actually a good thing or not ! I can thing of one screw that might could use another 1/4 turn to the light side. A few drops of silicone here and there may have also done some good.

Much better trigger feel. Though I think I might put some more weight on the trigger itself. The first stage pull is light and a LITTLE gritty. I can either take it apart and polish everything, or just use the gun so it smooths itself. The wall is light, but feelable, the second stage let-off is light, crisp and quick.

I think a little more trigger weight might make things a little better, but even as it is, it MUCH better than what it was outta box.

ct - Thanks for the heads up on the trigger adjustment. Pretty simple when you see what's happening.

Surprised myself this morning. My complete freehand shooting was very close to the side of my elbow support shooting.

I should have bought one of these guns a long time ago..!

I pulled the cover off mine today and took a look! I was thrilled to see if wasn't all slathered in grease like many trigger assemblies! But, after seeing the layout and how thing were adjusted, I left everything just as it was. The only thing I did was put a very small drop of silicone oil on the sear closest to the trigger, just to smooth out that action a little more.

I have had an AP-16 for a few weeks now and wow! I am still waiting on the silencer adapter that USPS has been painfully working my way for the past 2 1/2 weeks… I have a DonnyFL Tanto to put on it as soon as I get that adapter, and that is really my only complaint is how loud it is. But even that is not a huge deal. It is the most accurate air pistol I have ever had…

This was a 7 round magazine at 20 yards...

How many shots per fill are you guys getting? Just curious about the difference between the regular and compact.

AHHH...blasphemy...a pistol on a bipod..?

The sky is falling...

Man...shoot that baby the way it's meant to be shot, by hand. There IS NO greater shooters feeling than doing well...without crutches.

Mike

Even off hand it is a pretty sweet shooter. I am plenty happy with it. This was at 10 meters offhand with no support. The purpose for the bipod is to be able to shoot up at my cabin out to hopefully 50-70 yards or further when no bag is available. For me there IS NO greater feeling than pushing the limits with the best accuracy my gun and I are capable of...
