Ataman M2R Ultra-Compact only $1200? + free $100 magazine?

Followed PA's link to "Hot Buys" https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/new-airgun-round-up/

Always liked the M2R. Great price point. Seems to be well made. Only negative I've read is that it needs a silencer.

Question - Why is the magazine offset like this? Is it to accommodate single shot hand loading?

Does anyone have an Ataman? I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I believe that you are correct in your guess that the mag opening is large enough to accommodate single loading. The M2R has a breech opening large enough to be single loaded very easily. I have actually never used my magazine in mine except to function check it when first purchased.

My M2R Ultra Compact is in .22, and running in box stock form it needs no additional moderation for my usage. Keeping in mind that my opinion is purely subjective, I do not think that the rifle is loud at all in .22 Of course your proximity to neighbors may dictate otherwise.

The only real rub with the Ataman UC is the trigger, which is a very long single stage right out of the box, but there is a work around for that issue.

Accuracy wise, the Ataman UC will hang right in there with other comparable platforms like the Vulcan Tactic, Cricket Mini Carbine, and the Brocock Bantam..

Mine is the first Gen. version, not the new X series with the adjustable cheekpiece, and PA has a few left for under a 1000$.

I really enjoy my Ataman M2r ultra. I feel the trigger is very good and light, it is accurate and well made, the gun can be single loaded pretty easy, and the gap and size of the magazine is because the design of the magazine, which for me works very well. Easy to see, you can add a pellet while the magazine is loaded, it is a clockspring design where you load and wind the magazine. When you pull the bolt back, the bolt makes contact with a spring release in the magazine and rotates the magazine. When you are done shooting, you can remove the magazine and unwind the magazine. For me it means that the loading, indexing work of feeding the rifle is almost all done by the magazine not the rifle internals. The mags are expensive but are well made. It is my quietest rifle with a donnyfl.
