Athlon Argos BTR 6-24x50 APMR Mil: Ranging using Parallax adjustment?

Just got a new scope, the Athlon noted above, I am trying to set it up for FT Hunter class.

My question: if I set the power to 12, at a target 10 yards, adjust the parallax till it focuses, note this range on parallax wheel and repeat this process at 5 yard intervals, will I have the dope set properly? Not taking into consideration temperature, humidity...

I usually do that on maximum magnjfication. And then verify it at the magnification that I intend to use during a match. If it's for AAFTA Hunter rifle Division, that would be 16x.

I would recommend a finer spacing. You should be able to discern 1yd increments, especially for the closer distances.

Would there not be a POI change if one used max. magnification for ranging and then turned the magnification down? I would set the wheel up at the magnification I'd be using (16x for hunter) for shooting. 

Yes, for sure 1 yard increments between 10 and 20 yards and then 2 yard increments between 20 and 30 or 40 and then 5 yard increments out to 55.

Do your ranging at 16x which is where you will compete. If you range at higher mag and then try again at 16x you will get different results.

Get markings from 10-20 yrds in 1 yard increments. From 20-55 all you need is every 5 yards.
