Athlon argos BTR 6-24x50 comments

I did a lot of research and comparisons and ended up buying the exact same scope. It was delivered yesterday. Haven't had time to mount it yet but out of the box it feels rock solid. Also the glass at full 24 magnification is much brighter than my Aeon 8-34, even when I only set my Aeon at 24 magnification. I'm pretty excited to see such a noticible difference in the clarity of the glass.

I'm a huge fan of that scope (Bought 5 still have 3, sold 2 on guns) and also the Talos BTR 4-14 (bought 3 still have 1). Since then I've tried Discovery, new bushnell and a couple others I returned in the same price range and haven't found any that compare. Even though our resident expert thinks they are over priced I still think they are a bargain compared to the competition.

I've had 2 gen 1s. Not much to dislike on it except the weight. There are heavier, but I'm kind of stuck on the older front focus , light weight stuff. Still have 1. Sold the other on a rifle. Only one I've liked more so far is the Midas Tac. Both are 24x and very clear to 24x, but the MT just seems brighter and like I can resolve detail a bit more . The turrets are also more crisp, plus a zero stop on the MT. I really like both reticles but they are not the same. I have a Talos as well, but it's 14x and doesn't get used as much.

Very difficult to beat for the money.

I've also been through a few scopes similar to @skohl. Same deal... a lot of lameness and got returned or sold.

IMHO the original Argos BTR shipments were just a tad iffy, meaning that the turrets lines didn't line up with the line on the housing. However I've had many of these through my hands, owned 2-3 of them, and for the $ they've been decent scopes. I still have my original scope from the 1st shipment and its been a very reliable scope netting a bunch of wins in FT for the last 5 years.

As the years went by Kevin the owner of Athlon kept increasing the consistency and quality of these.

In the 2019 ShotShow I was helping at the Athlon booth and got to play with every new Gen2 Argos BTR they had on the rack, probably a half dozen of each, both 6-24' and 8-34's. I was SUPER impressed with the new turrets and "zero stop" especially compared to my old Argos BTR's! The only reason I didn't replace my G1's was because I prefer ALL .2 mil reticles.

I'm actually really low on scopes for my rifles because I've sold 5 scopes in the last 6 months. This was partially in anticipation of the new 2021 Athlon's and the new Aztec line of scopes!!! Man it sucks having some of my favorite rifles sitting in the safe without a scope on them!

However as soon as I can I'm buying some Gen 2 Helos 6-24 scopes because of the new APRS6 reticle. Now we're really getting to a sweet spot for the price! The new Helos is a heavy 34mm scope but for target work I welcome the extra weight.

The 2 recent Argos BTRs I recently bought for $180 and $200 delivered have better (glass and turrets) than the original old Argos when they first came out. The $400 (when shopping smart) Midas TAC FFP 6-24x50 is noticibly clearer but I still don't like the yellow tint typical of Chinese made scopes but at least it's cheaper than the Bushnell Forge that's got the same yellow glass and turrets.

If you dont have perfect vision the Argos look clear all the way to 24x.

The AEON is a joke at high magnification.
