Athlon Argos BTR vs Hawke Airmax 30 SF

The Bushnell Nitro SFP Deploy MOA 5-20x44 is on sale for $199.99 at camera land and it's made in Korea not China like the scopes mentioned. I have several of these only in ffp same clear glass. Much clearer and brighter than my air max 6-24x and 8-32x at the same power tested and Athlon Argos 6-24x at same power tested. If you can live with 5-20 thought it's worth a try and same money too they're normally 499.99 scopes. The Athlon Argos FFP Illuminated 6-24x50 is $269.49 from Amazon I'm disappointed with mine and my air max blows it away in clarity and the Nitro is brighter and clearer than them both. YO!

If you go after an Athlon Argos, Spend the extra money on the Gen2 to get the upgraded turrets rather than the discounted original version. I have a Hawke Airmax 32x50. I like the AMX reticle. The adjustable red illumination can dial in just enough added visibilty and light most of it. The glass is ok up to 20x or so. Beyond 25x it starts to dim. My Sidewinder 20x 42 is more clear even on full 20x and the turrets are much better on it. It's 20x mil reticle is basic and works fine with the illumination which also offers green and lights the whole thing unlike the Sidewinder SR Pro which is a center dot type and only illuminates the dot. If I had it to do over I would have spent the extra $30 and got the 32x 56 sidewinder rather than the Airmax. My Salesman didn't encourage me enough to stay with his first suggestion. The Hawkes have some of the nicest included accessories of large side wheel, nice sunshade, and some of the best lens covers which have a very high quality feel and fold flat out of the way. So easy to just swing the covers shut every time you aren't actuall looking through it to make sure nothing ever gets the glass dirty or otherwisw happens to it.

.

I have a couple Leapers scopes which are actually quite good for the realy cheap price but have one glaring flaw: When using the side wheel, the image shifts up or down almost 1 mil depending on which way you turned it last. So you have to always turn it the same way last when focusing. And hope it is the way that doesn't shift from the recoil when you fire at that range again.

Theres a nit pick about the Athlon in question I wish to share. Maybe I shouldn't but just sayin it's about the higher up higher priced model having identical glass and only better turrets. I'm pretty critical when it comes to optics and price paid. There are scopes in the $400-$650 range I wish I had never bought. YO!
