I can only compare with what I've had but maybe it'll get the conversation going for you.
The oldest Argos 6-24 FFP scopes weren't the best in the turret department but IQ was decent for the price. I used one of these to win a fair amount of FT matches and a state high score. It tracked well to 10 mils and I sold it after 5 or so years of use. It still worked fine so nary a problem with it but I just wanted to upgrade to the Helos G2 line and higher.
My Argos scope and my friends Argos 6-24 had superior IQ as compared to my FFP SWFA 3-15 that was about a decade old or so at the time. I still have this SWFA 3-15 because it focuses down to 6Y and it's fun to compare it to other scopes as time goes by.
I have a 20-ish year old Nikon 3-9x40 designed for big game hunting and that Argos was just as clear at 9x but the Argos has a side focus and the Nikon does not.
One of my friends has a G2 Argos 6-24. The turrets are much improved and above the normal in feel as far as click distictness, lash, and lining up with the indicator mark on the housing, for scopes in this price range. Though IQ seems much the same to me vs my previous Argos scopes.
Have a older Hawke Sidewinder 8-32 and to me the 1st gen Argos was way superior and the G2 is even more so.
Had a older Bushnell SFP 6-18 and it was a few steps down compared to the Argos to me.
Had some Burris scopes, both had some things I didn't like about them. One was a super compact rimfire scope which had bad fisheye. The 8-32 had really skinny turrets.
I end up being not to impressed with some less expensive scopes of most of the other brands. I suppose my major gripe is either IQ, poor turret feel, or funky reticles.
Also the last 3-4 years I've tried various other brands in the $1000 to $3500 and darn if I don't still feel like Athlon comes ahead here and there anyway. Why?? because it's a deminishing returns thing. Athlon typically is good in nearly every way, sometimes superior in some ways, but is less expensive and I don't feel like I'm missing out on much. The Cronus G2 is like this compared to some very expensive scopes. Not quite as nice in some ways but very close or I should say close enough for me. To this day I prefer the feel of the G2 Cronus turrets more than any turret I've felt.
Actually for my style of shooting I could sell most of my scopes and be pretty satisfied with Helos G2's, they are that nice.
