OK
Hello,
I have convinced a friend to start FT and he's wanting to do pistol and rifle with one gun. He mentioned the atomic in 177 which I know you guys that have them love them but he is running to shoot hunter class in both. I know it will do great for pistol but can or does it get closer to that 20fpe for rifle? I know in 22 it can but not for sure about 177. AoA says 15fpe. He said no Thomas.

Thanks
Jon

Just dont worry about 20fpe, no reason to at all.
BUT, power aside he might be best served with a pifle or ristol. Otherwise some forced shots will be extremely difficult.
10fpe is enough, squaed with a fellow from TX at the Nationals years ago shooting an FWB601 and yes at least 2 55 yards targets were hit but didnt fall but even when yo take those points away heck of a great score. 12fpe at least gives himw the chance to shoot All classes. I always enjoined that.
David Slades ristol miss rifle stock:

Legal 15" rig that dropped right into a rifle stock when desired. Zero shift in anything and spot on at all FT ranges.
One issue with with using a pistol on forced lanes:

(that is Jim from MI pistol I was trying. He took 1st place at the TN State with it)

A crosman 1701 (with slightest mods) would be excelnt and have enough power at 55.
SteveV's 2260 - a Mike T. build would do it all and again and be a ristol or pifle

And that way back when, so many more choices now.

Any reason he feels the need for that particular pistol?

Get to the club, ask around buy used and have FUN!
