HOT!
I suspect a pre-match rain and heat index of about 105 had something to do with the light turn-out of 5 twenty foot pound Rifle shooters; four of which also shot (20 foot pound) Extreme Pistol. The course set for Extreme Pistol priority had a very high pistol difficulty of 39.4 Troyer, that translates to a very easy rifle difficulty of 25T. Billy Davison held up best to the extreme heat, to capture the Match Winner hat-pins for both matches.
Billy posted an excellent 53/60 with his .177 Brocock Pathfinder pistol topped with an Athlon 6-24X scope, shooting 13.43 grain JSBs at 805 FPS. Great shooting, BD!
Jim Byrd came second in the pistol event with an excellent 48/60. Jim used a 4-14X Athlon Talos scoped .22 Brocock Atomic, shooting 18.1 JTS pellets 680 FPS. Excellent shooting, Jim.
Billy Davison's 58/60 was good for the Rifle Match Winner hat-pin also. He used a 6-24X Athlon scoped FX Crown, shooting 13.43 grain JSBs 812 FPS. Fine shooting, Billy.
Scotty Halsam and Ron Robinson tied for second place in the rifle competition with scores of 56/60. Scotty shot a .177 Marauder wearing a Falcon F50 scope, shooting 13.4 grain FX pellets. Ron shot a .22 Brocock Bantam Sniper custom(ized) pistol/carbine in carbine form, shooting 18.1 grain JSB pellets 700 FPS and wearing a Weaver V-24 scope.
