ASC Precision Rimfire Match Report
08/18/2024
Our August Precision Rimfire match was a great time. Not too hot, not a lot of wind, no monsoon conditions like at the July match. We had 10 shooters, including two that were new to the club but not to PRS shooting and a first time shooter, Jim L. (our Membership Secretary). (No airgun shooters this month)
We started the match a little early thanks to the setup help from Stan F. and Bryan L., and finished a little early thanks to the help from everyone clearing the range.
The course of fire was tough but fair except for the bonus stage, which was really tough and not very fair. Next month we will not be shooting the snake charmer from a wobbly tire stack. But I will think up something else that is tough and unfair. Maybe some standing shots? We’ll see…
Thanks to everyone that came out and shot, watched and helped. A lot of our regulars didn’t make it this time, which is understandable given everyone’s summer schedules and the heat, but we hope to see everyone next month.
Speaking of next month, I’m planning to register with the NRL so we can be official and start submitting our match scores to them. No one needs to join the NRL to shoot the matches, they will still be open to everyone. The main benefit is for those of us that are NRL members, we will be able to get points towards the National Championship next summer and be entered into the monthly NRL22 prize drawing. Also, RTSS in Purdon (Corsicana) is going to start hosting a monthly NRL22 match as well, so we are talking about turning it into a series between both clubs. So, again, you can continue to shoot our monthly match without being an NRL22 member. There’s honestly not a lot of benefit to joining the NRL if you don’t intend to shoot at Nationals.
Next match will be September 15th at range C, sight in will be open at 9, shooters meeting will start promptly at 10. Match fee is $10, $15 for guests. Round count will be under 100 rounds, 22lr or air rifles only, bolt action or semi-auto with at least a 10 round magazine.
