Air Venturi Avenge x .177 suddenly shoots innacurately

Hehe Just remembered I bought 3 tins of the Crosmann Premiere Ultra Magnum. they would shoot ok for some pellets - and then way off. Then i discovered the head size varied so much you could easily see pellets with smaller heads. - Try some JSB Exacht 10.34, 13,43 or some H&N Baracuda FT !!! The JSB 10.03 Knockouts also shoots great in the Avenger.....

When i discovered the head size problem, I just emptied my three new Tins of Crosmanns into my pellet recycle bin. I bought mine at Rhodes in Hillerød.
Waste of money - All three Tins had head size variations.

Do you know where to get probe orings in denmark/europe? And where can i get the .22 barrel other than in us-shops?

I buy pellets and O-rings in the US normally from McMaster Carr or the O-ring store. I don't know if they ship internationally. I've purchased 3 P35s from Krale in the Netherlands. I don't know if they offer O-rings but you could look at their website or call them. They have been responsive when I called them. They may also sell Avengers and have or be able to get parts for them.

I probably said this already but I shopped using Crosman 10.5s after getting two bad tins with wildly varying head size. I first shot a different tin which shot great. So I bought two more and they are junk.

Where do you live in Denmark? I just tried the gun after a clean last night, and its completely useless. The groups are not even groups anymore. So I need someone to test my gun and see whats wrong with it. The reg settles at 1800psi but creeps up to about 2000 psi eitin 10 mins. The barrel is clean and the probe orings seem fine. Here are my “groups” on 22m with the crossmans on one and h&n on the other🙁🤣😅🫣

I have tried several different brands and they all shoot weird. Especially h&n slugs

So - a quick update: I ordered some JSB Exact Diabolo 10.34. Took the gun apart. Cleaned the barrel, took of the shroud, discovered that the endcap that the shroud screws into on the actionside has a set screw that was loose. Also the other end of the barrel had a slight gap between it and the bafflestack. I put a round of thin tape on the barrel to make a snug fit, greased every oring up and put it back together. My groups are much improved now. The funny thing is that the JSBs didnt improve accuracy as much as i had hoped. The Crosmans are just as accurate(based on the five test shots at least😀) So next I might consider doing a barrel crown grind/polish to get rid a
of a potential scratch a bore sighter that I tried some time ago might have caused. I dont know. Or maybe I just leave it as it is and improve my steady hands instead…

Knew it wasn't a 'dirty barrel' that needed scrubbed with a brass brush, lmao. Never heard of such a thing.

Glad you are back to acceptable accuracy.

Great that you improved. I designed and 3d printed new centering brackets for the shroud. I have no baffles in mine. I bought the 1/2"-20 UNF adaptor at Krale - and that has a pipe that extends over the barrel, but the pipe has got a much too lose fit. So I redesigned the system and shortened the pipe on the moderator adaptor and 3d printed an airstripper in stead.
That improved the accuracy a lot.
I also spent a lot of work - improving the trigger - changed angles, springs and polished all surfaces. It is so bad from delivery - very difficult not to pull the shots. Also moved the trigger location and shape.
I Designed a new front part for the stock that squeezes on the two pressure pipes increasing stability for the Bipod support - to get rid of poi shifts when moving from target to target. I added 0.5 kg lead into the rear of the hollow stock - and designed 3d printed Ballast weights and casting positives to add weight to the front stock, but i never took time finish and cast the lead ballast weights.

Over all everything did improve a lot - but it is still no high end rifle. I Live in Sabro - 12 km west from Aarhus.
I have shot mine with Pellets but not much. - It shoots very good with the small JSB 10.3 Knockout slugs. But slugs are normally shining at longer distances not for 15-25 m.

But remember you need to know your pellet speed, before you can say anything about if a pellet or slug can shoot accurate or not. Too slow or too fast and it will be a mess.

Your groups looks vertical better than horizontal - It could be due to trigger pull is a challenge.
If you have a hard and unpredictable trigger you will never be able to shoot consistent.
We were three friends meeting at the weekend - One fun thing we did was shooting sugar bites on the smallest side at 50, 75 and 100 meter.
20 sugerbits at 100 meters was gone in less than a minute. That would be impossible with even small amount of inconsistent trigger pulling.

Very few rifles shoots H&N slugs well in .177 My redwolf shoots them OK to to about 75 m - They can shoot maybe a 2-3 cm group at 50m, - maybe a 3-5 cm group at 75 m. But at 100 maybe af 10-20 cm group only. Try. JSB Knockout 10.03 in either mk1, ,mk2 or mk3 - All shoots very good in Avengers out to 75 m at 920 to 940 fps. Some Avengers can shoot the faster and still keep accuracy. I dont remember how Zan slugs was shooting - only that the best result was JSB Knockouts 10.03 - The heavier 13.43 gr was not shooting as good as the lighter ones. But forget about slugs at 22 m. At such short distance pellets is still superior shot at the right speed - and of course the pellets that your rifle prefers.

Its an Avenge X Classic synthetic I have. Dont know if the trigger is any different. Also I tried to shoot some groups today. The JSBs 10.34 Diabolo shoots great overall, but the Crosmans 10.5 seem to do well now that I have tightened everything down in the barrel. But both the Crosmans and the HN Barracuda I tested both shot way to the left of the target. Same scope, same distance, same fill. Why is that so?

And yes - I know. I should recieve my chrono one of the next days🤩🙌🏽

i agree - the O-rings in the Avenger seems like they have been installed for years. When I installed a external plenum I depressurized the rifle and when i wanted to fill air in again it leaked from the pressure pipes. I took the pressure pipe off and saw the O-rings were much stiffer than the 90° shore they should be. The dealer that sold me the AVA had not invested in any repair / overhaul kits so no help from him. He asked me to measure the Oring - and send him the dimensions - then he would order that O-ring at Krale. I ended up buying a O-ring kit from UK with expensive freight Import tax, Administration Fee, and VAT. the most expensive O-rings I ever bought.

But you are right the origins were stiff like plastic - After changing the O-ring it was OK again I then shot it a couple of times - since it has been standing in my storage.
I could easily find the o-ring size locally in Denmark in 70°Shore but at 300 Bar - I am sure it is not for fun they are 90° shore original.

As a recommendation, buy spares from https://spares.bagnallandkirkwood.co.uk/
