Air Venturi Avenge x....not filling...help please.

so took off barrel.drained air. went to fill to adjust reg, with barrel off. will not fill. i tryed cocking and firing a few times with barrel off but no fill ....is this normal . i hope so! i dry fired to get out all the air . hope its ok.. so does it need the barrel on to filll??? input greatlye appreciated j

You might need to open the bolt while it fills.

Is the air not going into the gun? Is the air pressure hissing out of the barrel? As has already been stated you may need to cock the gun to get the air pressure to build. What are you using to fill the gun? More information would help with diagnosis.
