Air Venturi Avenge x Regulator issues

So as I’m new to the forum i hopefully am posting this to the right place.

I recently purchased the Avenge x .25 from Pyramid.
Out of the box directly from them I fired a few magazines and happened to notice reg pressure was rising pretty quickly after it sitting for say 15-30 minutes.
400cc bottle with no less than 3000psi and topped off to 4000psi.
So after a email I was sent a new regulator.
After the degassing first I replaced the regulator with the new one sent to me.
I installed the new one and seated it gently then counter clockwise 1/4 turn per instructions in manual.
Cocked the rifle and filled to 4000psi and as I watched both gauges I happened to notice reg pressure was right at 3000psi again with bottle being at 4000.
Dry fired 5 times and watched the reg pressure drop to 2200 or so and almost immediately rise back to 3000.
So no matter what I do nothing changes.
My understanding was if the regulator was set at 1/4 turn counter clockwise it would be reset to a lower pressure and I could continue counter clockwise to set desired regulator pressure.
Honestly I’m ready to send the whole package back as this was not a cheap investment with compressor,Element Helix SFP and all the stuff needed.
So if I’m going to pick up my rifle after sitting any length of time and I see a crow I want to shoot I need to dry fire to be able to have a consistent velocity to have accuracy?

I know there’s alot of threads about regulator problems but just thought I’d ask since I haven’t had time to read much on the subject.

Moonpie,
Greetings, glad to have you here. Sorry for this situation, what a way to start a hobby. Can't say it applies in this case but it is not unheard of for airgun sellers to sell customer-returns as new product. Customers with upfront problems, as you, are sent repair parts to resolve the issue without further effort from the seller and to avoid getting the gun back. The excitement of a new-to-us airgun makes most want to repair rather than return, at least that's the hope. Recommend send it back for replacement, the Avenge-X platform is a good one. WM

Sadly, that's no guarantee either. My first FX was a Wildcat MK3 Sniper .30, brand new, thru my Dealer, from FX Sweden. Accuracy was non-existent. Removed stock and found internals destroyed by an unskilled goof trying to tune. Seems FX had accepted a returned promotional loaner and placed in "new" inventory without ever looking inside. My thread, "Ever Seen a Butchered Wildcat?" still lives in the archives. WM

Wow!
Guess it’s a crapshoot on everything nowadays.
Quality is almost non existent it seems.
Maybe I’ll just pass on the PCP idea.
Had a break barrel Gamo and just about had to go get shoulder surgery from that thing.
Don't give up, I didn't and have never enjoyed a hobby more. Members seem to like the Avenge-X, give it another chance. The Avenger was popular and the upgraded Avenge-X platform fixed many shortcomings. FXUSA took Wildcat back and made it right, deadly accurate and proud member of collection. I'm more of an Airgun Technology (AGT) fanboy now, better value, stronger build and faithfully accurate. These are the twins

, over a year old now. WM

I’ll do some thinking over the weekend and talk to PA Monday and go from there.

Meanwhile I’ll check out AGT
Talon Airguns is AGT's US Dealer, I use Krale (Netherlands) for cost savings. Search, "Krale," in archives for "how to use" information. Current Krale AGT inventory is low but should be a new shipment coming soon, at least that's what they said. WM

hey buddy, yes the manual does say the 1/4 turn CCW.. but thats a generalized approximation. Close the reg ALL the way shut after you degas.. Then regas the gun, to 4k+. then SLOOOOOWWWWLY start turning ccw. i'm talking passing a kidney stone slow. And you'll find you can start as low as 1400-1600. This is how i do it. I've had creep, but, i've noticed it's AFTER i've set to a pressure, shot for a while, and change pressures.. Since this last degas, regas, reset. Mines solid at 1800, NO creep over, The AV reg does seem to reset slow, You shoot, it drops, takes about 30secs to truly equalize to set pressure. Try degassing, Go ALL the way Clockwise till you can no more. Regas, Open slower than cool tar flows.

let me also say, it can take a second for the reg pressure reading to catch up to the adjustments youre making, Turn CCW a bit, then stop... wait. it should equalize in a little. once it does, move up from there.

Why wouldn't you return it to vendor and get a replacement, now you've committed yourself to fixing it. Probably voided warranty cant see them letting you tear it apart and not voiding it. By the time you screw with it and try to figure it out you could of returned it and received a new one.
take the stock off first

tech says it is super easy "all you do is bleed all of the air out of it, then unscrew the black screw that is next to it. At that point, you just unscrew the old reg and screw in the new one, then it comes down to folloing the directions in the mnanual (screw it it just until it stops and back it off 1/4 turn)"

Because I was told directly by PA to do this first before sending it back.
Per the instructions above.

Thanks for the help I appreciate it.
I’ll give that a try and update.

Update on pressure situation.
Degassed turn reg in until it stopped.
Regassed bottle and pressure was sitting at 2400 roughly.
Dry fired 3 times which dropped pressure back to around 2000 or so but went right back to 2400 ish.
Has sat for 2 hours and pressure is up to close to 2700.

This gauge is what I’m assuming 2250 every tick mark?

The regulator is all the way closed with no turns counter clockwise.

If the regulator is closed how is air getting past it? That doesn't make sense. When I go ALL THE WAY clockwise. Until the adjustment screw stops. And I regas. The reg pressure gauge sits at 0 as it should. Something is not right completely

That’s what is stumping me.
It’s closed all the way in clockwise and pressure is still high and after sitting rises even more.
