Air Venturi avenge-x vs avenger

I'm thinking of purchasing an avenge-x or avenger ,I can't seem to find info on the differance between the two, I saw one review on the avenger that said the receiver and pic rail are plastic, is this correct and is it the same on the avenge-x. I don't live near a shop where I can go and look at guns in person. Thanks in advance

The original Avenger receiver is not plastic, it just has a plastic cover. The rear and the front shroud end cap are plastic, however, as is the mid shroud support. The front screws for the stock are an unusual 4x.8 thread I could not find when I made my wood stick. The plastic stock for the original is functional but very cheap and junky feeling. The Pic rail for a bipod is so shaky it's barely usable. I worry some of the receiver may be a zinc alloy casting but hopefully it's aluminum (zinc casts very well but it also creeps well). On the plus side mine is accurate and holds air very well after an initial warranty fix. It is a functional air rifle with a lot of features for the price. But I prefer Snowpeak airguns. Both are not machined like a high end gun but I find fewer "cheap out" material choices on my Snowpeaks.

Pyramyd Air's video department, PA Insyder, has a side by side comparison video of Avenger and Avenge-X on YouTube. Very well done, suggest you check it out. WM
Here’s that vid:

I’m a PCP noob and just bought a pre-owned Avenge X, because I got a really good deal on it and it came with extras. If I found a really good deal on a pre-owned Avenger, I probably would’ve bought that instead.
If I was buying new, would I have spent the extra couple hundred bucks on the X? I’m not sure.

They are almost completely different pcps. They look the same and share a few parts but otherwise the Avenge X is the better version. I have an Avenger and they are pretty great for how much they cost, when they were released. Now I dont think I would buy one, as there are several other better options in the same price range. The Avenge X however I think is a decent deal and a good option for your first or second pcp. I really like the upgrades that were designed into the Avenge X and the extra options recently hit the market are interesting. You can get barrel kits for cheap in different sizes and air tubes etc to mix-n-match your perfect setup. I would only consider the wood versions of either as the plastic used on the original Avenger is crazy light duty. Our friend group went through several of the early Avengers with mixed results, but ultimately we are all happy with them.

Just got a 22 cal avenge X a few days ago. Sighted it in yesterday , no wind
Very impresive took 4 shots to sight in . Sighted at about 40 yards . Shooting off a bag. I have a hill hand pump filled to just 4000 psi. Very impresive from the box 21 GB h&n groupe at about 1/2"
And even the crossman 14gn with port turned to low are grouping 1/2" at 40 yards. The diference for me that set me for the avenge x was the ajustable tranfer port from high and low and the modular barrels. I got the plastic stock because of the shoulder height ajustment and the ajustable cheek piece. As of now shooting Hawke 3 x 9 50 SF with the ir retical on low rings. The scope cover had to be turned but there is room. The magizine the 10 count mag fits under scope just fine the 16 count one will not and the single tray is hard to load with the low scope mount. But the cheek weld raised full at least I think its fully up. And the shoulder pad moved down one makes perfect alighnment. So I may just keep running the low scope mount. Though I did order Hawke high mounts. Also add I purchased the rifle through affirm so $57 a month. For avenge X and mk5 hill pump. Would have had to pay some down if I got the compressor package.
So the stock tube for now I went threw over 3 mags on my charge and its still just above regulated presure.
Well worth it I am impressed and havnt tuned it any.
