Avenger .25 ... 110 FPE !?

So I'm messing with my gun, measuring differing speeds with slugs with my new found power and I decided to sling a few pellets downrange. The Seneca 43.2 grain pellets always created my best energy numbers since the was new out the box... And maybe for good reason. So I shot some and realized I have reached 110 foot pounds of energy which is insane from this gun. This brought some doubt into my mind so I decided to weight these pellets and none were much more than 40 grains it seemed so they are way overstating their product! Turns out I did however reach 102 FPE which is still crazy as I believe the gun has maybe 10 FPE left in it with a soon to come tweak. Attached are the pics of the calculations as well as a 5 shot group I shot at 33 yards with NSA 38.9 grain slugs (which measure exactly 38.9). These were running about 1020 fps on average so about 90 FPE.

Seems off Ive down some work on a friend's M3 and had 43 gr NSA slugs doing 1022 with a 800 mm but had change hammer weights and port the non power block turned it down to 970 not to beat the crap out of the gun
Yeah I have a custom 50cc plenum extension so about 60cc total. I have extensively ported the transfer port by hand with super small rotary cutters, custom 28" barrel with enlarged barrel port, added tungsten inserts into the hammer, put in a stronger hammer spring, installed 8mm poppet so I could drill out valve throat to 7mm, and installed lighter poppet return spring. I run the run at max pressure (2900 psi) as well.

It's a neat achievement and maybe that answers this question but I can't help myself, I have to ask why? My 25 Avenger is tuned to about 42 fpe and I am completely happy with it at that level. If anything I might turn it down a little. I'm just shooting targets and occasionally taking small game and I don't need more power for what I do. I understand other purposes might be better served by more power/velocity but I'm curious how the higher power is being used.

Mainly it's just a fun project to tinker with. I wanted to see how far it could be pushed. Also if I want to take larger game I would feel confident doing so. There may be one or two other people that have reached this mark and I wanted to get there too and maybe beyond. The nice thing is I can always turn it down if I wanted to get a high shot count or shoot small critters but I can tell you a squirrel hit with that kind of energy doesn't move after getting hit. Nice to have one gun that can plink and shoot pellets, take small game, and if I choose so take a hog or similar animal.

I like the idea of taking an inexpensive stock gun and tinkering to make more of it - seems like a rewarding project. I also think one of the unique things about airguns that makes them so interesting is the fact that one gun can quickly be tuned to fire at a wide range of power levels.

One thing that led me to buy airforce guns as a newbie to all of this was the combination of the power wheel and changeable top hats (not to mention readily available barrels) allowed someone with no skill to greatly adjust the performance of the air gun.

It is always interesting to hear about the more complex modifications.
