Avenger Coming This Week

does the avenger picatinny mound have degree of upslope to it (sorry dont know what the phrase is)? I mounted my scope on it and had to adjust it to the max of up adjustment. Anyone have the same problem?

Myself and another air gunner at GTA have same issue shooting .6"-8" low..I;m going to shim rear mount or rear of rail. I also think there are more out there.

This is a guide for shims:

.005" = 3.5 MOA

010" = 7.0 MOA

015" = 10.5 MOA

020" = 14.0 MOA

JCNiest5 Yes mine is also in .22 cal

And I have a 15 pg manual that was included

It can be difficult to quantify without data, which I can send you a link to, just let me know.

I will say the difference is significant in my opinion. A guy on another forum tested 14 different moderators.

Bare barrel on a .22 Avenger with the reg. set at 1800 PSI and 2.75 turns on the hammer spring was 98.83 dB with this moderator it averaged 84.67 dB.

This thing is super backyard friendly now.

So a 14db reduction is significant? Can you compare it to something familiar, like say the sound of opening a can of soda or the pop of bubble gum? The numbers are deceiving I guess, having a reference point that is familiar would be more productive. I would love to reduce my sound output, but would like to know what to expect. Of course in Hollywood, they make it sound like a whisper....

Maybe this will help put it in perspective. Are you familiar with the 3 dB rule?

The 3 dB rule states Every 3dB change represents a doubling or halving of sound energy"

The human ear's response to sound level is roughly logarithmic (based on powers of 10), and the dB scale reflects that fact. An increase of 3dB doubles the sound intensity but a 10dB increase is required before a sound is perceived to be twice as loud. ... The sound intensity multiplies by 10 with every 10dB increase.

Based on the above statements, I would say it is more than twice as quiet as stock.

I'll shoot it some more tomorrow and try to think of something that might equate. I've only shot it a few times, but I would say it is probably quieter that opening a can of beer.

Hope this helps.

FedEx delivered my Avenger 25 no problem. The problem was it didn't have any air in the cylinder. With bleed screw snug it leaked slowly down after filling twice. I sent it back to PA and am waiting for a new one. I suggest you save all the boxes and packaging until you know it works right. Check it well.

Since you already you sent it back, I guess it's too late to say, but on mine, if I just barely snug it, it leaks a little as well. If I go past that just a little, it stops the leak. Mine came in with about 200-300 PSI, just barely to give a good sound when I first did the dry-fire. I degassed it, but when I snugged it back, it was just a little short, so when I charged it, it leaked a little. I gave it a quarter or half turn, that was enough to stop the leak on mine. Just don't use all your strength, but you can actually go farther than just snugging it. Just listen to it while/if it leaks and slowly turns it. The leak will stop if the hole or screw is not defected. On PA's website, no Avenger in the .22 cal is in stock now. It says 2/08/21. But both the 177 and 25 are in stock now.

And I usually never throw away the box. I have some boxes of Ruger 10/22 LR from many years ago.

Made a Pet-P plastic seal for my bleed off screw, (.195 diameter x .100 thick with a 45 deg x .03 chamfer on one end). Works good. Another owner made a seal from a rubber inner tube, that also works.

Does the screw come out so you can fit a gasket/seal ?

Yes. And I stoned the end of the screw flat to remove burrs. Not a real precise seal from factory, (loose threads).
