Lovely shooting and a bear hunter here- real bears, you aim "middle of the middle and forward a few inches".
A bear's heart and lungs are located further back and lower in the body cavity than a deer's. A bear's lungs extend back to the second-to-last rib and sit almost entirely behind and below the shoulder blade.
