I was slightly farsighted for decades. More recently, my distance vision is less good—supposedly 20/20. Been wearing reading glasses for 20+ years, which I don’t mind, but I want my distance advantage back! I hope getting cataract surgery will do that, when the time comes. Eye doc said mine were in only the first stage of cataracts, snd that most people wait till vision is awful before choosing surgery.I'm going to be 78 in about 3 more months and can still shoot any kind of sights rather well. I had been nearsighted since about age 13, and wore glasses all the time, finally progessing to bifocals/progressive lenses. I could see the sights especially the rear sight very well, peeps excellent, scopes, well adjusted to my eyes. Two years ago I had cataract surgery, I was on the borderline for needing it but went ahead and now my distant vision is perfect, more like farsighted, and I need glasses for reading and close up work, so I told the ophthalmologist jus give me some more progressives, as I had been wearing glasses constantly, I still reach for them first time when I wake up. I can still shoot any type iron sight well along with the scopes.
With me, it was spending all day staring at a computer screen for work. That was the beginning of the noticeable decline.I think all my pc gaming in front of yhe computer screen and work computer did not help my cause ovrrall.
And to be honest on that was never had issue with the old crt screens seems it come on with the use of lcd/ flat screens that replaced them. With me, it was spending all day staring at a computer screen for work. That was the beginning of the noticeable decline.
cataract surgery is a piece of cake . but my doc said you have to wait till the cataract is "ripe" or ready not b4 . i wore Bi focals , now only reading .I was slightly farsighted for decades. Astigmatism is present, also.

Still poor trigger pull and follow through .
My eye doctor said that in less wealthy countries, people develop cataracts earlier because fhey lack good sunglasses. No joke to me, so I don’t mind spending $$$ for sunglasses with high % of UV screening.Did not know that.. I'd thought as early as you can as prevention.. interesting.
I read this thing about a s doctor that went to Africa to a area where the folks eyes failed at a high rate and he put them on a vitamin 'A" regiment and it turned things around. Maybe i should go with that vitamin A and see of it corrects mine as there.
Yes, they actually have either bifocal or progressive intraocular lenses, but the cost is rather high. I cannot remember exactly but those special lenses were either $2500 or 5000 for each eye, It's been a couple of years. The VA paid for mine, and Insurance covered my wife's, for standard single focal lenses only. If you double those figures for taking care of both eyes, my thinking was I could buy a lot of good reading glasses or progressives for distanct to reading for that total price.,also they can put emphasis on near or far to some extent . thinking about it now i would have ask about far for target shooting probably not advisable but ?
I dont know . It's known that companies or whoever charges the VA and insurance company the lowest possible prices and never over change them ..Yes, they actually have either bifocal or progressive intraocular lenses, but the cost is rather high.
