Back yard plinking games

Ask your daughter to find interesting (disposable) targets right in your home already. I was surprised at how many things destined for the trash can or recycling might work as varied targets. Let her make up the games and maybe she won’t get bored as easily.

The mini-pie plates that hold one-person tarts can be shot as is or markered on. They’re 4” diameter aluminum with the inner, recessed part 2.5”. Stick a dot or decal in the middle for more of a challenge. Tape or pin on backer, OR hang for a more difficult target in wind.

Cardboard boxes with photos on them, such a many food products, are worth eyeing as potential victims. Here’s one that sports overlapping 1” diameter circles (I added the numbers):

OK, I’ve been dithering over whether to post the link below or not. The creator of the video later got charged with a felony for some of his other home-experiment projects. I doubt it was the one in this video, but be discreet about where you do it. I made one that didn’t work well; the seal wasn’t tight enough. But I still have the other valve assembly I made then... I’ve also seen an ad for a commercial version.

The thing doesn’t lend itself to high volume practice, for obvious reasons. Maybe make it the prize target if the other ones are all shot well first?

How to make it:
