Bad shot placement on a rat using Zulus

Using a .177 Vixen with 10.8g pellets at 830 fps, rat at 33 yards. I wasn't holding steady and hit the rat's a$$ instead of the head.

I don't really give a rat's a$$ that it was a bad shot, the only good rat is a dead rat!

My video is only at 30 fps while the manual says it is 60 fps. Is there a menu option to change it?

I don't care where you hit a rat if it goes off and dies eventually. Nice work! I haven't messed with recording settings on my zulus. The chart and accurate long range trajectory solving had been my bag. I can't wait to find out the settings fix for my own knowledge!

I looked for the body this afternoon, none found. It could be another animal took it for a meal, or it ran off somewhere with a sore a$$ to die a slow death. Either way the only good rat is a dead rat. Rats made me suffer much property damage and repair costs. I'm only returning the favor! :ROFLMAO:
That rat is definitely dead, probably eaten by its brother…

The shot veered to the right and impacted under the head, down the belly/ribs and hit the animals left ( thereabout) hind quarter. Pretty easy to see as the shooter floated the reticle left to right and loosed to the right. The momentum of the moving barrel made it go further to the right.
We can think of this, like, " Putting English on a Que ball while shooting pool. Same principle.
But I am just a Ragu Sparrow. What do I know?

You hit it just in front of the L hind leg, at about a 30º angle to the spinal column. It is dead somewhere for sure.

You nailed it right where your crosshairs were. So the gun is good. And that’s good. It’s funny how animals are spring loaded when shot. But a human would just collapse and cry if shot in the a$$.

It’s because we’re atop the food chain and not used to being hunted. I guarantee though there are many soldiers and people who live in war zones that are spring loaded too when shot at / in the hindquarters!

@BlackICE, Atomic XR .22, basic Zulus atop, rat at 40 yards, CPHPs 14.3 grain pellets. Was going for the head but hit high. Same “spring loaded” reaction as yours…🙏 For me the Zulus has been a game changer…

I think I need to stop browsing here for a bit. I keep finding new equipment that I NEED. I checked the price on those Zulus, it’s amazing what quality you get for around $500. I remember basic civilian night vision binoculars being a couple grand a few years ago. I definitely need a night vision scope though! I need it. I’ll use it. I’ll be the nemesis of night squirrels and rats.

How well does a night vision scope like this function compared to a regular one? Is there a level of disorientation or queasiness? I used NVGS at night in the military in training, I always found them disorienting but that was a few years back.
