Balance type Squirrel target

I guess if you google " rocking target". Then click on image's you may see that idea if thats what your thinking of ..

Fancy type
Thanks i have seen this one , good idea but i am trying to make it work like the FT string targets , if the balance is right it will be a some what slow motion movement ( a count to 5 timing )

I'm a retired woodshop teacher. For my students lathes I bought a plexiglass safety cover made by Rockwell/Porter Cable. It was lowered during use. It easily raised with hand pressure BUT if it was struck by a disconnected woodturned object with velocity, it would lock and protect the operator. The locking device was so simple. It was based on inertia of rest and inertia of motion. When high velocity hit the Plexiglas a little flipper with a (90 degree notch would rotate slightly and engage a horizonal piece of steel and prevent the plexiglass lathe hood from raising. BUT when you wanted to open it by hand/slowly the flipper did not engage. I bought this lathe safety device in the 1980's. Perhaps google can find a pic for you. Very hard to articulate the flipper/notch/inertia system. But it was very functional and best of all DIRT simple.

Here ya go..

😜. All but durable ..

If a guy could take the control box out and use real metal youd have somthing

I've tried to make this using tennis balls cut in 1/2 , worked ok as long ad it was placed on hard surfaces , soft dirt or grass not so good . (Mine were not self-healing )
