BAM B40

Just acquired another cool springer. This one is a BAM B40. Looks to be in mint condition. Unsure about its history, but this thing is accurate. Easy 1.5” groups at 25 yds with Crosman Pellets. I’m not sure, but I feel like the shot cycle is better than my TX200. The fit, finish and trigger are not even close to the quality of the TX200, but I’m pretty sure it shoots better. This is a good quality gun for being made in China. I think I got bit by the springer bug. What’s happening to me?

I polished all the trigger contact points. What a difference. Still not a tx200 trigger, but it’s a fine one. I’m still amazed how well this thing shoots with Crosman Premier pellets. I shot it over the Chronograph today. All 10 shots were within an ES of 3 shooting right at 674fps. At 14FPE, this thing is a laser. I’ve never lubed a springer so maybe I did this wrong. I pulled out all the internals and cleaned off all this copper colored lube. Looked like antiseize. Cleaned all the metal parts with brake cleaner and dried. I have Lithium automotive grease, pure silicone oil and silicone grease. I put a thin coat of lithium grease on the spring, guide and top hat. Also put a bit on the part of the piston that enters the trigger group. Basically any metal to metal contact. I greased the piston rings with a thin layer of silicone grease and the piston seal with a light coat of silicone oil. It shoots really nice with no twang. If I did this wrong, someone please let me know. I’ve put about 100 pellets through it and it seems to be fine. I’m planning on buying some moly grease like everyone else uses. Until i get it, I figured I’d use what I have.
