I actually had barrel bands for both my Wildcat MK3 Sniper and my Crown MK2s with 700mm barrels. I have since removed them for different reasons. For the Crowns, I actually found the guns were more consistent and grouped better (50 yards) without the barrel bands than with them. Yes, the POI changed when i removed the bands, but then they remained consistent. The barrels do move, but generally seem to return to the same position every time. With the Wildcat, I have the barrel band from SMH engineering that was shon in an earlier post. I was concerned when I first got the rifle that I could hear the barrel touch the airtube if I didn’t put the gun in its rest gently. The barrel band certainly stopped that, since the two were now locked together. However it didn’t really shoot any differently. I removed it since I didn’t want to use the pic rail at the base of the band for a bipod, since the band would transfer any upward pressure from the airtube to the barrel. I used a Saber tactical tube clamp instead. As I said, no real difference in how it shot.
I might have a different opinion if I were always walking around the woods with my guns, or leaning them up by the barrel. I don’t do either one, and I wouldn’t use a 700mm barreled Crown for walking around in any event.
