Barrel band vs. no barrel band RE: accuracy

I am currently in the process of turning my Crosman 2300T into a carbine. I would like to shroud the barrel, but in order to do so, I would have to remove the barrel band. My question is, would removing the band affect the accuracy? I already have a Corcoran stock for it, and plan on putting on a set of vintage Anschutz front and rear aperture sights to shoot 10 meter rifle competition. Would some of you mod. guys out there please give me your thoughts

Take off the band and do some shooting. Your accuracy might actually improve.

I know on some of my Crosman guns the barrel band does not touch the barrel,just the screw to hold them on...and many a time the barrel did move a bit and it never lost accuracy.

With a steel breach you should not need a barrel band. On my 2240 I no longer needed it after I installed a long steel breech that replaced that skimpy plastic thing that originally came with the gun. If you had recoil whipping the barrel around then you might need a barrel band.

Thanks for the info guys. The pistol has the steel breech so as noted, should have no effect on accuracy. We shall soon see. I do plan on adding a 12' LW barrel

Just finished shooting w/out the band. Actually really no difference to speak of. Guess that answers my question
