Barrel cleaning / FX Streamline

I have some old Beeman “quick cleaning pellets.”

I suppose the best way to describe these. Is that they are die cut, felt material ( non woven) (.177)

i shot a few thru my Streamline in hopes of cleaning the bbl. I also soaked one or two in Bore Tec Eliminator and shot it thru the bbl. my question is will this clean my bbl? Thanks all.

I like a Crown Saver pull through and Ballistol. Excellent cleaning solution that wont harm your breech o-ring and a Crown Saver pull through that will never break even if you pull it through the bore with every ounce of energy you got. I had a Napier once from AoA and the darn thing broke on the second pull through. Got something that works and has worked for decades. The original formula for Ballistol is what the German army came up with in WW2 for their weapons. As screwed up as they were … they knew how to get the most from their weapons.

I grabbed it from 20/20 concepts, I grabbed the pocket field kit. It is a plastic similar to weed trimmer line so it wont damage the barrel. I like the kit because it has pieces to fit every gun size, which is nice since I have multiple calibers. I just grabbed ballistol from amazon it was cheaper than other places online, unless you find it on sale.

The only thing I don't like about the Patchworm is that on my Gen 1 .25 Wildcat it was very hard to get the .25 cal fitting to position correctly through the magazine slot and nearly impossible to do it if you wanted to put a felt tube in there with it to pull through. Every other gun I had was okay to use the patchworm on …. but I wanted one system to work for all of them … so I use the Crown Saver.

I ordered the Patchworm from 20/20. Be here next week.

I was thinking about the situation and I cut a piece of monofilament and used a hammer to flatten out a section near the end. I then used a utility blade mounted in a vise and sliced a section on the monofilament. It worked perfectly. I used some old CLP I had and cleaned my bbl. I’ll still clean it when the Patchworm and Balistol arrive next week.

Mark, these guys are all correct about what to use to give your gun a thorough cleaning. I just wanted to say that my boys and I have 3 FX gun’s and the smooth twist X barrels do not need a thorough cleaning that often. At least not as often as barrels with traditional lands and grooves. I polished all three barrels when we got them which helps keep them cleaner longer. I’ll thoroughly clean ours about every 1500 shots with a pull through snake and use the cleaning pellets dry about every 500 shots. I’ve never had s loss of accuracy with any of our guns because they’re dirty. If the accuracy doesn’t degrade, leave it alone until it does. That way you know for sure how many shots before you’ll need to clean it again.

Thanks Stoti I’m really not happy with my rifle right now. So I’m going to try and cleaning it. NOT slamming FX! But I should be able to put pellet on pellet at 25 yds. I can stack pellets with my FX Dreamline in 22 but this SL in 177 is just not getting it done. It could be because I’m using low power setting and JSB 8.44gr.

Thanks again

Did you clean the barrel when you got the gun? Have you tuned the gun properly? I agree it should be stacking pellets at 25yds. Clean the barrel and see if that helps, if it doesn’t, write another post and see if everyone can help you figure it out. I’ve been in your situation and probably most everyone else too. Could be one of many things...dirty barrel, tune, wrong pellets, etc... I’m sure you’ve heard it all before. Very rarely is it a bad gun though. It’s usually some small issue that we’ve overlooked or didn’t know about. On the bright side, once we got my son’s Streamline dialed in, it stacks pellets for him at .40yds all day long! I’m sure you’ll get there! Good luck, let us know how it turns out. Have a great weekend. Stoti

I bought the gun last year used and killed +900 sparrows on a sunflower field. Never cleaned it. I like low power because of the lack of report and I can see where the pellet is hitting. I don’t need hits like Bob O and the AH’s from South Africa. Good stuff right there!!!!! The lower velocity doesn’t spook the other birds and they stay around.

Ill try the cleaner and see what happens. Then maybe a new thread. If I need to shoot with more FPS then that’s ok but I love to see the pellet flight and as mentioned lower velocity does spook the other sparrows. Thanks everyone!
