Tuning Barrel for HW 110

Yep, the HW110 comes apart like legos - easy to disassemble and reassemble.
A few things I’ve learned:

The FAC hammer spring shuttle has a Torx-5 lock down screw INSIDE the 4mm Allen key adjustment hole. You must loosen this before adjusting with 4mm Allen and then tighten it back down after adjusting.

I took the hammer spring shuttle out of the rifle. Make sure the slot in the shuttle for the cocking arm nub is showing when you go to reassemble. Sometimes it rotates out of sight. If that happens, just shake the shuttle till it is back in sight within the Shuttle’s long over port. You will not be able to get the shuttle to slide back into the breech along with the cocking arm, lower black plate and silver plate if you don’t.

I switched the magazine release lever to the left hand side - it’s easy to do and makes loading the magazines easier when the rifle is resting on a bench. The cocking arm assembly is not reversible- you would need to to a left hand side lever from Weihrauch if you want that.

The air tube assembly comes out with one Allen bolt as shown in the video in this thread. No need to degas the cylinder to remove it. The degass screw is easier to access when the cylinder is out of the gun. You screw the degas screw IN (clockwise) to degass. Do this slowly and you will hear hissing. Screw back out when time to refill with air.

The reg pressure is super easy to adjust. You will need to buy a reg pressure guide tester (I bought mine from HWTUNING - a UK outfit - about $30). Steps: #1 completely degas cylinder. #2 open regulator test port (I think it’s 2mm Allen grub screw) - take out ball bearing under screw - it just falls out. #3 screw in reg test gauge and air up gun - note your factory reg pressure. #4 remove reg lockdown grub screw (I think 1.5mm Allen) and adjust reg pressure. Screw in reg adjustment screw to increase reg and screw out (CCW) to reduce. Small amounts - I think a quarter turn = about 20 pounds of pressure. My FAC .22 was set at 140 from the factory. Air it back up and note reg pressure change. You may be able to increase reg pressure without totally degassing cylinder- by lowering cylinder pressure below current reg pressure and then attempting to screw in reg adjustment screw - I did not try this, I always adjusted reg with cylinder empty.

I loosened the grub screw near the square shaped transfer port o-ring - and then tried to unscrew my barrel (just to see if I could remove it for barrel polishing. No dice. I didn’t want to force it, but it was screwed in tight, maybe they did use locktite.

I dropped my reg pressure from 140 to 120. That decreased velocity about 20fps. I will check if shot count increased. I’m guessing that you might need to install the lighter UK spec hammer shuttle to achieve the huge shot count that the European spec HW110s get. I was getting about 38-40 shots on the reg when my reg was set at 140.

I hope this helps - there is not much info in the USA on the HW110, but these guns are reasonably adjustable - both the hammer spring tension and the reg pressure are adjustable for the USA version of the HW110.

I currently have the HW 110 and tuned it to about 20 ft lb. I could tune it for around 25 but it.becomes to loud. The barrel is the 410mm stock but very accurate weirauch barrel. It's great for 100+ yards hitting golf balls and 1 inch to 2 inch targets with ease the pellet flys smooth and looks almost like it's a bomb being droped on your cross hair.which I hear is the best trajectory and flight your pellet could have. Also have a longer barrel could increase.fps as well as dampen sound. I'm looking at getting a lothar walther chocked barrel but I dont know what twist rate to go with or outer diameter? Also how and were would I get it threaded for my HW 110? Any body know how i could match my barrel with my stock weirauchs twist rate and how do I even find out what twist rate my stock barrel is? Silencers are illegal were I am so unable to purchase one.

Thanks
Hi man,

I'm new to the forum, any update on this post? Very interested as I have just started tuning my hw110 and am having fun with it.
