What is the real internal diameter of the average 22 cal airgun barrel? I'm getting 0.216 inches.

Where are measuring the diameter? Breech diameter will not be the same as the muzzle, as most barrels are choked. Also, the only way to measure the inside diameter of a tube that size is by using precision pin gauges. If you don't have them, you're pissing in the wind.. My FX Crown in .25 has .250 breech and a .241 muzzle, as an example.

What Steve said. Plus you have to take into account the rifling, lands and grooves stuff. If you are asking if it's normal for a barrel to be different than the nominal designation, then yes, good barrels would have a smaller ID.

Your measurement looks within the normal range. To measure bore ID, I’ll push a pell through with a safe rod and mike the skirt for a number.

I posted "At Home Rifling", in "Springers and Pumpers" section, worked very well. but wanted to know why 5.5 mm was initially too large. Purchased a 5.5 mm rifling button and had to file it down to 5.45 mm to punch it through the barrel.
