when slugging a barrel, what is most desirable? tighter first half then gradually get easier kind of like a reverse choke or even friction throughout the barrel?
I think you have it backwards. The muzzle should be the tightest spot.Even friction. The bore should be a uniform diameter (unless it is choked) or have a very slight micro taper.
If the breech end of the bore is relatively looser than the muzzle end, you will introduce yawing into the projectile. It will almost rattle around like a smooth bore for the looser part of the barrel. I've never had a barrel shoot well that was looser at the breech end than the muzzle.
Oops…yes. I got mixed up. That’s what I get for AGN posting while in line at the grocery store lol. Edited the post for correct language.I think you have it backwards. The muzzle should be the tightest spot.
