Well Thomas how do you explain a over sized bore machined heavier than normal at the barrel block end
and fitted in the block with out a press fit and when its done the pellet now fits the bore and the rod wont drop due to no pellet to bore contact
I have done that several times to achieve that result and other wise why would I bother machining a barrel with a over sized bore at the block end if I could not get the results needed to have success the barrel would be tossed in the scrap bin
have you ever attempted to machine a bore when over sized at the barrel block end?
also Lw barrels typically coming in at .630 have a lot of turning down for barrel block fit up maybe your barrel have been less diameter
