BassPro was pretty well stocked up on Airguns and pellets.

Went for a walk thru my local BassPro Shops and was pleased to see the airgun section pretty well stocked. They had airguns from Daisy, Crossman, Benjamin, Stoeger, Umarex, and had a fair amount of pellets. Mostly Crossman 7.9hps and Destroyers. I didn't need anything, but it was nice to see that people can still walk into a store and get something to plink or hunt with. I did pick up some fishing jigs for the spring run.

I was in the Tyler, Tx Gander Outdoors today and picked up 4 tins of 250 Crosman .177 pointed 7.4 gr at 3.99/tin. Did not see much in the way of .22. In all honesty I was looking for cheap as my 9 year old grandson will be here this weekend and wants to shoot, He only shot anything the first time last Thanksgiving and was not that accurate, so do not want him wasting my better higher priced pellets. We did get him one of the single stroke Daisy pneumatic pellet/bb guns. I have a couple of higher end spring air guns so will let him shoot those, with only his dad or myself cocking them, as well as a couple of CO2 pistols.

I only saw one or two pump up pistols, no air rifles of any kind, but was not really looking

I did notice the ammo shelves were almost barren, a very few boxes of odd shotgun shells, no handgun or rifle ammo of any kind.

Went to Bass Pro in Rancho Cucamonga, California with my 7 year old last week just to get out after forced home schooling. The people in there were zombies walking around empty shelves, just grabbing whatever they had left if they needed it or not. I honestly hate that store. First time I have been in there in two years and will be my last forever. Personal opinion only and store location specific only. I am sure other states have better stores and better experiences.

Same thing with Cabela's since BassPro bought them.

Morris killed Cabelas which used to be a great store both online and in person. They had great pricing, huge price discounted sales and a much higher standard of "Cabelas" branded products than Bass Pro did or does. I used to buy so much stuff from Cabelas at the end of the year I had enough points to buy Xmas presents for most my friends and relatives. I don't buy from Cabelas anymore and gave them back my Cabelas Credit Card I had for ten years when Morris bought them. What a catastrophe.

If you do some research you will find Jonny Morris, was not the downfall of Cabelas . when the last Cables brother wanted to retire, the kids only wanted the money so they sold the franchise to foreign investors that stripped the company of all quality products and replaced them with imported junk. After almost going bankrupt in a couple short years, Morris stepped in and bought the Cabelas name. He has been slowly replacing import products with quality products but then the virus hit us all. Quality products are extremely hard to find so it will take some time for Candles and even Bass Pro to recover. In my area I have numerous big name sporting goods stores and all are in the same boat trying to get quality products. Was a real shame the Cabela family was so greedy that they refused to keep the family legend moving ahead. Just another example of what happens when a good American grown company sells out to foreign interests, we all loose!

Where did you get that from... some article? You obviously don't know Morris. The term "imported junk" is a Bass Pro trademark. They make their money selling Chinese clothing and squiggly fishing lures they buy for 15 cents and sell for seven dollars. All the fishing rods and reels are made in China. The guns and scopes Bass Pro sells are the same as Cabelas and every other sporting goods store always has. What are these majorities of "quality" "not imported" products that Bass Pro sells?

Bass Pro puts a fancy inside to draw tourists from out of state then sell them jacked up pricing Chinese junk. Morris threatened his home city of Springfield MO to move all his corporates and the main Bass Pro to another state if they let a Cabelas be built 40 miles away in Branson. He predates on predominantly smaller city locations many are tourism dependent and always fights the city council if they allow competing sporting goods stores in his area. The guy is the Bill Gates of Chinese junk sporting goods.

If you read my post, I was explaining the downfall of Cabelas, the Chinese buyers of Cabelas are what sunk Cabelas that is common knowledge and can be read in many business magazines. Only Morris stepped in to buy Cabelas at a big loss to the foreign owners. Yes....Cabelass has gone downhill big time by selling to foreign buyers, but has also made a comeback under the Bass Pro label...at least much better than the Chinese buyers were doing. Never said Morris was a saint but far superior to the Chinese that bought out Cabelas from the greedy children that wanted to take the money and run

My point was being bought by Morris under the Bass Pro label is not a step up from anything. It is just a different disaster. We need more Bass Pro's like we need a hole in the head. Cabelas are all going to be Bass Pro clones and are already making the transition. There will be no "come back" just more Bass Pro's. For awhile they will be Cabelas in name only then the name will be dumped. Either under the Chinese or Morris Cabelas is gone. There is a huge difference between a profitable store and a good store.
