BB gun for granddaughter

My daughter just called and said she was considering getting my 7 year old granddaughter a BB gun for Christmas...yea I know I’m going to hear about BB guns and Christmas! My daughter grew up shooting shotguns, rifles, and pistols with me. She has a cheap BB pistol she uses to run feral cats out of backyard and my granddaughter is al over wanting to start shooting it. So she thinks starting her with a BB gun easier and more fun for “Gabby”. I’m not sure an air rifle is in the picture yet. So should I go with a “Red Rider” or is there another BB gun that is better? Of course she’ll be supervised for as long as needed to assure a sense of respect for any projectile producing device.

I would strongly consider a pellet gun over a BB gun.

Why, in most cases, they are much more accurate, both pistols and long guns.

I've bought a couple of more expensive BB guns and have been very disappointed at the accuracy. One gun, I took apart and made some modifications to make the slide and barrel more stable, and things got better, but still not as good as my pellet pistols. I'd assume that the same situation can be found in rifles. Maybe not to the same extent, but... It's simple, BB's just don't fly as well as pellets.

Something to ponder, hitting a good bullseye, will make her happy. NOT hitting a good bullseye, will disappoint her and possibly case an early exit of the hobby.

Hi guys, hope that everyone is doing well and healthy. I went through this with my kids and learned some good lessons. The best gun to get for starters is a crosman 760. Let me explain why, very simple, NO RECOIL. This gun you can also control the power by just the number of pumps. My boys still have stories about the daisy lever actions crushing there hands and fingers. When my daughter came along I got smarter and had a crosman discovery ready to go. My wife and her still use it for squirrel hunting ( she is now 20 ) and won't let me or the boys touch it. I hope this helps. If you have any more questions please shoot me an e-mail. I forgot to say the trigger pull is also easier. For safety I would only use pellets. First off if you load them one at a time it's safer and the chance or ricochet is minimal. The 760 also can be purchased in pink. By the way the most important part its made here in the USA!

Hello. I started my children with Daisy Powerline 880. It shoot pellets or BBs. 3 to 5 easy pumps, load and shoot. Holds about 50 BBs or one pellet at a time. BBs not so accurate, pellets OK for a $35 gun. Shoot with BBs at 10 feet to start. Shoot empty coke cans and the kids love it !!! They can hit the cans pretty easy at 10 feet and my kids loved the sounds and the way the cans kicked around when hit.

Only one pump needed 10 meter match $105 used refurb rebuilt and the most accurate entry level self contained semi match grade air rifle for cheap with a factory Lothar Walther match grade barrel. Around $120 shipped.

Daisy M853 shoot ants and flies at 10-20 yards. An accurate gun is a fun gun you look forward to shooting often.

Put a TKO at the end and you think it's really broken when you shoot it. Did it just shoot?

If youre using pellets then you want a rifled barrel. 760 is a smooth bore designed for bbs.
