Too much coffee and a deconstructed Umarex stock...

Very poor workmanship on my part, but absolutely serviceable.

This turned out pretty cool. Takes the Marksman 2004 (Beeman P17) to a whole new level.

Offhand dimes at 20 yds with the Bugbuster. Will zero for 40 and take mortar shots with it.

The sidewheel "looks" like gimicky overkill but actually works awesome as left thumb is already right there when shouldered.

i have a P17 and it is the hardest cocking SSP I own by a long way

I can't imagine trying to close one with that scope mounted, your a better man then I am

but a nice looking rig

You made an interesting prototype there. What about a folding type stock like from a MP7 or cz.61 scoprion?

No change in degree of difficulty closing the breech when cocking. Just make sure scope can take it!

So, the stock started out as a folding model but I inadvertently disabled that feature when moutning it to the metal plate that attaches to the stock. Dang-it!

tested it out at "longer" ranges yesterday (40yds). Iv'e settled on a 25 yd zero as that is where i think the limit lies for accuracy. Need to try out a few more pellets - it sure is fun to shoot!

been working on this very issue for about 18 months.... had a couple set backs for getting this out sooner(tripled the wife's art busniess shop size, requireing remodelling and painting, and emergency eye surgery to reattach a retina... which Im still recoveruying from....)



boils down to 2.5 problems:

1. folks want to use the stock as a cocking aid. While my design and testing show it can be done (cocked it over a100 times using the stock to "help") it forces your hands into/onto uneven/unequal placement and IMO even harder to cock than just using the "upper" and the pistol grip. One thing it did help was laying it across yer lap and using some upper body wieght to help close it.

1.5 ... I guess its really two sides of the same issue..... but reading folks' desire of stocks for P17 on other forums, its apparent that many of them want to be able to add/remove the stock in the field. The "point-five" part is, as noted above, folks' desire to NOT permanently modify the pistol to mount the stock.

SO Ive come to these tow conclusions:...DONT use the stock as a cocking aid. While I cnat speak for all the P17 owners/shooters, IMO the stock isnt much help in cocking it. Second, given the low cost of the p17, forget about reverting it back to a pistol. Keep it as a dedicated carbine.



Ive been lusting after a folding stock of some sort since I got my first P17. I like where your going on this!

they are awesome with a stock. Nainoa88's build illustrates the big issue with stocking them: attaching the stock. and a folder,,, yea the Grail of gun stocks

My efforts didnt use a folder, but seeing the OP's build.... need to get back to that design and look at it with fresh eyes....
