Beeman R1 Anniversary .20 cal.

Mazzman,. Welcome to AGN. Please take a moment and read the rules regarding classified ads. This is a great place to share knowledge and enthusiasm for the air powered shooting sports . https://www.airgunnation.com/help/classifieds-rules/ https://www.
Hi all,

I bought this new in the mid 90's and set it up as you see in the photos. It's a great shooter and has helped keep the varmints at bay. I also have the soft case that came with it and might have a manual somewhere.

My question is can anyone give me an idea as to its value? And also where might be a good place to sell it?

It has been well used and well cared for and is still sending .20 cal pellets downrange with authority. I am trying to get in touch with ANYONE at Beeman in Huntington Beach about getting a tune up but just leaving a voicemail is a challenge, and I have yet to hear back.

Thanks!

It's a rare piece in a prime caliber so it definitely has decent value. The stock is pretty beat up. I don't see you getting much over a grand for the package after auction fees and income taxes.

Some people collect those blue ribbon scopes. You're probably better off separating the two. The scope is more of niche thing. You might get a couple hundred dollars for the scope alone, when it doesn't add that much to the value to the package.

Many people will want one piece without the other. Nobody is buying the gun to get the scope and many IMO smart people will want the gun and won't pay much extra for the scope. Bottom line is you'll probably clear a little over a grand for the gun with or without the scope.

You'll get the most money using eBay but just remember they report the sale price to the IRS and send you a 1099 at the end of the year. According to current tax laws you will have to pay income tax on the full amount of the sale and 87,000 new IRS agents with guns means they ain't messing around.

Beeman is no longer in Hunting Beach and the R1 has been discontinued (although the same basic gun is still available as the Weihrauch HW80.) Air Venturi (Pyramyd Air) in Ohio now distributes the Beeman branded German guns. You could contact Pyramyd about refreshing it, but if it shoots good and you just want to sell it, why bother? Most buyers probably have their own preferences of tuners or spring kits they would choose if the gun needed to be rebuilt.

According to my 2021 Airgun Blue Book your gun is listed as the 20th year commemorative model, only 50 made! (1992). Adds 60% value to the stock R1. 20 cal adds $75 to the base value. Your accessment regarding the condition percentage.

80% condition: $680
90% condition: $840
95% condition: $880
100% condition: $1,000

With the original scope and bag it could add $100-$200 more (W.A. guess, not in book)

You have a real treasure there and have not been too fussy to put it to long use. Regards

I don't put much stock in the pricing listed in the Blue Book other than to get a ballpark idea of what something "might" be worth after seeing the crazy prices some buyers/bidders have paid for guns vs what the Book says they're worth.
At the end of the day, it's worth what a buyer is willing to pay for it. Being .20 and a Centennial Edition does add value to the right people. Decide on which auction site, list it for whatever minimum bid you decide on and let the bidding run for a week.

Thanks! It also has the Santa Rosa address - +20% and is .20 cal. - + $75. Shoots great!
Mazzman - Thank you for choosing me to be the next custodian. It goes great with the 20th anniversary RX1 that Russ (RM100Guy) found for me last year. I always wanted these when they were new, but as a young parent there was no way I could have purchased them then. Now if I can find the 20th anniversary P1 pistols, we would have a complete set.

Thank you again.

You're welcome Lewis. I wish you luck in completing the set with a P1.

For the sake of posterity, May I ask what it was worth to you Lewis?

In the end I purchased several items in a group. Some I believe I did well on and others I certainly over paid for. I’m hoping to find the pistols now to complete the 20th anniversary set.
There are a few times that the item is worth more to a person than it’s market value. Someone recently grabbed up a Theoben dual mag at 4500. I’m sure that’s more than the “value” of the gun but if you can’t find another….
