Beeman R10

Hi,

I need some info on a good gunsmith or if Beeman is still around. I have a Beeman R10 in .177 that I bought in the mid 80s and used for many good years. It has been sitting in my attic for a while and I took it down to oil and clean. when I went to take a few shots the automatic safety malfuctioned and damaged something with the cocking mechanism. Anybody know where I should send it and if it is worth getting repaired.

Thank you,

Jim

Bluecup, mine did the same thing about 12 years ago, when my 10 year old son accidentally pulled on the trigger while the barrel was cocked open for pellet feed. Not only did it ruin something in the safety catch, but the barrel also bent upwards when the barrel slammed shut.

Last fall I decided to get that R10 finally repaired. I found a brand new replacement barrel from the UK, and purchased an Air Venturi mainspring compressor tool from Pyramid Air. I also added a vortex mainspring kit upgrade, along with all new seals to rebuild the gun.

When I finally had the rifle apart, I found nothing broke inside the safety areas. All parts were good, and I can’t remember exactly what I found but it had something to do with the trigger sear being misaligned with a catch on the safety.

It was a great experience knowing I was able to do it myself, get my R10 fully rebuilt with all new seals, mainspring, retuned with fresh lube, and with that $90 mainspring tool I went ahead and rebuilt my FWB 120 sport as well.

You can do it. No need to send it off. If you no longer have your parts diagram that came with your R10 I’ll be glad to take pics of it for you and send them to you via email.

Bigragu,

I had lent my r10 to a friends father in the 90's and he did the same thing, pulling the trigger when it was cocked. Back then I sent it to beeman and had it repaired. Now I do all the work myself but this is different there is something broke or missing if my memory serves me right. I have not looked at it in quit a while, I will try to get it down from the attic sometime this week and I might take you up on your offer of the diagram or pics.

Thank you very much,

Jim
