My R7 arrived today, don’t know why I get so excited about stuff like this but I’m pumped to get it all put together. Stripped it down and cleaned all the factory lube off, polished the sear lever and put a finish on the piston. Hopefully Friday or at least by Monday my ARH kit comes in and the scope by the end of the week.

All ready to go. When mine came I sat in the recliner and played with it, so perfectly balanced and nice feeling in the hands. I must have shot a hundred pellets into my 7 yard indoor pellet trap lol. Definitely post pictures of groups when you shoot. Enjoy!

Nice piece of beech with some good looking grain. Did you get a shot off before the tear down? To compare. Not really much to a springer when all tore down. What lubricants are you going to use? Good luck.

No didn’t fire a shot, after seeing how much my HW95 diesled when I got it I decided to just go ahead and tear it down. When I pulled the piston it had quite a bit of grease on the front of the seal so I’m glad I didn’t shoot it. I’ll use the grease that comes with the ARH kit on the spring and for the piston I have lithium moly that I’ll use.

Got it all put together and scope mounted. Winds were 25-35mph so I only shot 10yds. This is as far as I can shoot from inside my barn. With it being over cast I only recorded 10 shots over the chronograph. Looking forward to a nice day where I can see how it does at 20-25yds.

When you pulled the spring out of the piston was there a thin steel washer inside the piston between the spring end? I don't see it in your pictures. Thanks

No there wasn’t. My HW95 had one but this one didn’t.

Thanks, I was surprised as well by how they did. I bought them last summer to try in my 97 and it didn’t shoot them very well. They’ve been sitting on my shooting bench in the barn since then. I only tried them today just to put rounds down it to start the process of getting the spring settled in. I’ll see how they do at 20yds. Might have to buy a few more tins of them.

Soon as I get a nice day I’ll try them and several others at 20yds and see what all it likes.

Bought mine used and too good a deal to pass up from a fellow member over on GTA. While I have a pile to test when weather allows, the best 2 of the first batch were H&N Sniper Mediums, which sadly they no longer make, and RWS R-10 Match Heavies a close second. The 3rd best were, surprisingly, the Rifle Ammunition 8.33gr pellets which outshot the both the Air Arms and FX pellets I also tried that day.

I got the rifle pellets from Ebay. Amazon also has them but $2 more than Warner Sports on Ebay.

Was another really windy day here but could shoot through the barn to just outside the back door and get 15yds and stay out of the wind mostly. Past that and it was crazy. That’s all I could get with the barn blocking most of the wind. Looks like it’ll be awhile before I catch a nice day with at least mild winds. Still have a few different pellets to try out but looks like I’m going to need and order some of the Finale Maxx Heavies.
All groups are 5 shots at 15yds.

If you did that on a windy day, 15 yards and 5 in each, pulling off the 10 Dimes challenge should be a piece of cake when the wind gets better. Look forward to seeing the target when you do.

20yds 5 shots each 11 different pellets. Wind was 8-12 mph. Shooting out through the barn with the barn blocking most of the wind since it was at my back but it was causing the wind to boil a bit over the area I was shooting. The wind really didn’t seem to affect the round nose pellets much but I could tell it was affecting the wad cutters.

Fantastic rifle there. The R7 in my opinion is the "If you could only have one" airgun. So simple, so small and lightweight so very well rounded in my opinion. Great job. I don't have much experience with your scope choice. I'm assuming they do well with springers? I love a compact scope.
