Beeman R8 Value

I picked up this pair from a local gun club for $600. eBay prices on an HW diopter sight alone is in the $175 range and $25 for a front sight. That's around $400 for the two sets of sights. The sights are like new but the guns were a bit rough but for $100 per gun without sights, I felt okay about it and helped the club out.

I'm new to the forum and also have an .177 R8 that I will probably sell. I will get some pictures to post if I can figure out how to do that. The gun was purchased in the mid 1980's and was used by my wife and I for the 25 ft NRA home qualification. Because of this there is a sling swivel hole in the stock fore end. Have to dig it out from the back of the gun cabinet to make sure my memory isn't playing tricks on me. Currently and actually for the last 30 years it has been scope mounted. It also has a Jim Marconi tune kit. This is a nice forum. I'm curious about the value. They do seem harder to find than say an R7, R9 or R1

I purchased my R8 about 35 years ago used and I would like to find out the approximate value. It's in good shape but has a few scratches on the bottom from shooting prone. Also has a Nikko variable scope. Probably going to pass it down to my son who learned how to shoot with it. It's always been my favorite gun to go out plinking with. Very smooth. Any feedback would be appreciated

Thanks. Bob

Gotta love those beemans.

R-8's are not easy to come by. The last one I was able to buy was 2009 gave 300.00 and it was not close to being mint. Great gun but flipped it for 450.00 as it was. R-8 has always been on my short list, but once I got it, handled much like my model 50 (IIRC). Anyway to answer your question, as Odoyle offered. It will go north of 500.00. I would dare bet that on eBay dressed the way it is, would see 700.00 plus for it. You have had it for so long and it is a Beeman classic and it ain't eating nothing but a few pellets. I would keep it and pass it down to your son.

It is not easy to find weapons produced in quantities of 20-60 copies. It's funny to hear this about R8!

I have no idea how many R8s were made. I studied the brochure and decided the R8 was the best compromise for accuracy, power and price. At 25' it will literally drive tacks. I decided I wanted more power and bought an R9. A year ago I decided I needed enough power to kill a raccoon and bought my first PCP in .22 caliber. Its an avenger and it is very accurate

At the moment I am actively trying to get one 2013 Feinwerkbau, released in an edition of 20 copies, and this is really not easy and not cheap. In addition, I do not kill defenseless animals. We are on different planets at this time.Sorry.

On different planets we shall be. I grew up on a family dairy farm in Michigan. We hunted, fished and slaughtered cows on occasion for meat. At my grandparents farm in Ohio in the mid 50's I shot rats with a pump up .22 cal Crosman air rifle. We also killed and ate chickens. Now you buy your meat in a store which is really better than having to do it yourself. No meanness intended, just prospective. Take care.

That’s right. I am a child of the concrete jungle of the downtown metropolis. In the club where I trained in my youth it was forbidden to talk about killing animals. For a picture with a killed animal they could be kicked out of the club. Since then I have not killed any animals, not even rats , I have a cat for that. It's simple, I feed the cat, and he does his dirty work with the squirrels and rats on my property.
