Other Been Away for a Long Time...Catching Up

Hi all....
I think that it's been over a year since I stopped shooting....
Why? I have no idea.... sometimes life takes you on a detour, I guess

. I've picked up the Impact and the Cricket and set the table back up. The Impact was empty, (0 psi), on the bottle gauge but still had 150 psi on the reg., so I guess I'll be trying to track a short leak down on that one. The Cricket is ready to go.

Despite the leak, I refilled the Impact MKII and cleaned the barrel and took it out for a test drive with 38.9 gr Nielsens'. Those where what I was using and having good luck with before the hiatus.

Didn't do too bad. After a break-in and had three shots in the bull at 50 when said and done. So 150 on the reg and 38.9's going 970 fps

Cricket will be next.

I am wondering what has gone on in my absence. Looks like at a glance that FX has a new Heavy Liner out. I bought my 700 mm Heavy Liner back in 2020. Is this liner an improvement?

Also looks like Zan slugs are new. How are they doing in .25? Thought I'd try some 37 grainers, but the Nielsen's are doing very well

yeah, I know, these are annoying questions but asking anyway and will be doing a lot of bedtime catch up reading on the forum here.

Now to go start looking for that squirrel who has gotten into my attic. Gonna try and catch him as he comes home from work soon.

One thing I'll say for putting the gun down for a year....the squirrel population has come back nicely.

Welcome back!

There's been quite a few aesthetic additions across-the-board, but I’ll just touch on a few mechanical advances related to airguns and projectiles.

  • In typical fashion FX has a few new models based around an over-the-barrel plenum and/or air cylinder. I can’t keep track of the liner progression, but chances are that there’s been some improvements to the refinement or changes to the twist rates since 2020. FX still seems to paving the way for slug shooters and PRS style shooting with the Panthera, Dynamic, DRS.

  • Skout Airguns has recently partnered with Corbin and developed a dedicated slug and barrel for the Epoch and their new PRS style model called the Evo.

  • Air Venturi launched the modular platformed Avenge-X with good success.

  • Air Arms released the highly anticipated FT rig called the XTi-50 and has been collecting a lot of trophies. They also partnered with a Turkish company to offer a wider variety of more budget friendly options.

  • AEA announced a few massive big bores.

  • Daystate & BRK have developed a higher flow valve and a longer HP barrel and tensioning system. Daystate also released a GP version of the Redwolf.

  • Diana reworked and refined some of their German made models.

  • Kalibrgun introduced the Snipe. Not much chatter about that yet.

  • Huben released a new semi-auto rather powerful pistol.

  • AirMaks Arms partnered with Huma Air and introduced a few new models including the ultra compact Krait Lite.

  • AGT introduced a big bore called the Nevtor.

  • RTI introduced a high power compact model called the Mora.

  • RAW introduced the Micro and Mini models and has added some additional plenum into their new ambidextrous HM1000 receivers.

  • EDgun Leshiy 2's (including the 9mm) are now be manufactured in the USA.

  • Karma just released their 100y BR winning airgun called the Red Panda.

  • JTS is coming on strong with a full line of pellets called Dead Center.

  • AEA is also offering a new line of pellets (that appear to be made by the same company as Dead Center).

  • H&N introduced their slug II heavy that continue to find their way to the podiums.

  • JSB introduced the Grand pellets, Hades heavy, and reintroduced the .22 deep skirt MRD's.

  • Altaros continues to make a name for themselves with their CNC turned slugs.

  • ZAN continues to refine their slugs and has announces some super high BC ELR slugs.

I'm sure there's been more advancements, if I forgot something please don't be offended! Most of the announcements can be found in the Industry News section https://www.airgunnation.com/forums/industry-news.250/

100% pure peppermint oil (not the food isle stuff ) will keep the squirrels out of the attic (a few cotton balls of the oil around the attic )
