Benchrest shooting

Dug my sawhorse converted to benchrest out of the garage this morning. Most of the time my shooting consists of plinking or pest control with the rifle leaned against a tree, on top of a post, a door jamb etc. Knowing that the extreme bench rest going on this weekend got me in the mood to sit down and punch some paper. Didn't print the best groups ever but it was fun bringing out some guns I haven't shot in a while!

The Wildcat is a bit stubby to shoot off a benchrest. You can see how I had to move the rest a few inches closer to the shooter to accommodate the shorter bullpup. I normally rest my right elbow on that rectangle of rubber pad so with the Wildcat, elbow was down on the plywood top. Not comfy at all. After making that change though, I can shoot better groups with the Wildcat than the longer Marauder. I think it's due to the smooth-twist barrel. The mag holders are not from A-F. I made 'em myself :)

That sawhorse BR got me to thinking about a modification of your idea. something more comfortable that can be broken down easily & quickly. But go together tightly & easily. I'll have to work on it with these plastic saw horses I have available around here. Just make a braced trapezoidal top for it that clamps on the beam of the sawhorse from underneath. Gusseted to slide over the beam firmly as well to clamp down tightly & quickly. That'd make it ambidextrous as well. A lil camo paint over all, & BANG! HEADSHOT!

Portable bench diagram. I used folding carpenters horses for legs, making it easy to transport.
