Benjamin Benjamin 392PA @ 50 yards

I have a couple C9A's that I believe have the same trigger. Can you share how you tuned it. I polished the trigger and all the contact surfaces. It current has a 4lb trigger pull and it seems to be all from the striker spring. The trigger pull is not being caused by the trigger return spring as I removed that temporarliy to test the trigger pull. That's a nice 392! Id really like to find one. Thanks
There is a particular angle the sear needs to be ground to. I’ll try to get pictures when things warm up. The first picture is close. Then the internal spring (next picture) that is from the safety to the sear needs to be stretched inward to an extreme to lighten its impact. Mark the spring end points on a piece of paper. Pull the ends into each other until you see a improved set. (Lighter sear pressure) Polish the sear and hammer contact point. Make certain the sharp edge of the hammer that makes contact to the sear is polished to an ever so slight soft edge. Else it will just scar the sear back to a heavier trigger pull. Polish all pins and holes. Polish the contact point between the trigger and sear. Lube all contact points. Lighten the trigger return spring. (picture 3) It takes everything imaginable but I get the triggers to about 2lbs, no creep and safe. I can’t take the credit for the grind angle on the sear. My used 392 steroid had about a nice 3lb trigger because someone did this angle grind. I then finished the trigger by doing everything else. They are a project but well worth the time. Borrowed picture.

Did some shooting with the Steroid 392 at 50 yards today. This group was 5 shots and measured a bit over an inch using Norma Heavies and five pumps. I’m sure it could shoot under an inch if I tried a variety of pellets but I only had the scope on it to get a better idea of what it was capable of. I’ve switched back to the Williams peep sight now and in that configuration the gun can shoot better than I can. View attachment 526327

That's nice shooting from your 392.

I was able to purchase one of the last few wood stocked 392's available (online). At the time I wasn't aware they were being phased out for the synthetic stock models. Cleaned out the paint from the muzzle and added a Williams peep, ended up being a decent plinker with most pellets but surprised me with pellets having a larger head diameter. Eventually I acquired the synthetic 397S & 392S, both fine shooters after some stock alterations (reducing comb hight).

Seems the later models are less desirable. Luckily I haven't run into issues others have had. Too bad they have been totally phased out.

The Monte Carlo was the last of the wood stocks. They were not Walnut. I have never owned one but they don’t appear to be Beechwood. A softer wood like Yellow-Poplar. Relatively inexpensive.
Any idea of what year the walnut was discontinued? I'm new here and did see the classifieds. I need to figure out how to use the filters for keywords. Probably need to do some reading
