Benjamin Akela, not grouping vertically

Aaah okay, regardless something is happening with the velocity. My buddy pointed it out, and I was able to hear it when he fired the gun. Each shot sound like it's going a different speed. And that seems to match up with no pellets grouping vertically. I think I may return this rifle. I didn't pay this much money for it to have problems. I think I'm going to return the gun.

Have you used a chronograph to determine its exact speed fluctuations? Hope so.

I think you are worrying over nothing. Don't even need to take anything apart either. Just try the pellets mentioned it's so simple to understand.

I've had guns miss a target at 20 yards then shoot a same hole group just by changing pellets. It's a very accurate barrel when properly cleaned and the right pellet. Out of nearly 200 Kral barrels I've tested I've only had to replace like 4or5. With a vertical spread it could be several things. Do you notice it high then low the high again or does it start out high and every shot after that drop? Using a hand pump are you filling all the way to 3000 every time or are you stopping short if you're not planning to shoot a lot to save time pumping?

I'll order them before I return it. But I just can't believe pellets would cause a 4 inch vertical spread at 20 yards. My $99 ruger air hawk does better.

First thing I'd do before taking anything apart or returning the rifle, is give Crosman/Phillip Guadalupe a call.He is the Crosman product engineer for these rifles and seems to want to help. Crosman engineers are the ones with the correct answers and very willing with ability to correct any problem, and also need the feedback if there are problems...

Well I noticed the barrel shroud was loose yesterday. I tightened it up, but still grouped bad after I tightened it. I have the pellets I was told to try on the way. I really doubt the pellets are going to fix this issue, but I'm going to try. If it still will not group after the pellets I'll contact benjamin and request a new rifle. Until then I'm not taking anything apart. I'll let the manufacturer sort it out.

One thing I've liked about Kral barrels is they're not being pellet picky, and the ones I have shoot anything I load.

Thinking 1 pellet or another is going to change anything to seems like a waste of time. The money spent on whatever pellets you're hoping will result in some sort of change would have been better spent towards picking up a chronograph, because without using a chronograph, you're just guessing, which is really no way to go about trying to diagnose a problem.

Well I planned on getting a chrono, but it just isn't in the budget yet. I have some possible good news tho, I was forcing the power adjust valve back and forth this morning and inside it felt like something popped or broke or something. Now it seems to travel back and forth much more smooth than it did before. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet since then. Maybe some dirt or debris was lodged in there or something. I'm praying that was the issue. I am very adamant about not working on anything that I don't have scale drawings of, so I WILL NOT BE checking o rings or tearing anything apart on this rifle until I have proper drawings.

Update!! I am almost certain the rifle is fixed. Now when I turn the power adjuster knob there is a distinct difference in the sound of the gun, and the speed the pellets are traveling. Something must have been caught in that valve because I get alot more forward movement out of it now, and the gun sounds and shoots much much better. It's like a night and day difference in the rifle! I will make a YouTube video and create a new post explaining in detail what was happening and what the valve when not working felt like. I'm not the best and most experienced air gunner, but as a machinist, I knew that valve didn't feel right. It turns very smooth now. Also I broke down and bought a chrono even tho it's not in the budget lol, it'll be here Wednesday. If someone knows them, can they please show the benjamin engineers this
