Lack of a blood trail has been a problem for me. At first, I was shooting Mr Hollowpoint 300 grain out of my Texan Carbine .457 CF. The problem was I almost never got a pass-through. Even on a small doe, the bullet dumped all its energy in her lungs. She only made it about 25 yards in relatively open woods, so she was an easy find. But the lack of a pass-through meant all there was to bleed was the original .457" hole. NOT a good tracking scenario. The MHP slugs tend to have very large cups that expand easily. I started getting better results when I went up to the NSA 350 boat-tails (which group great too). The seemingly harder lead compound and smaller cup seem to give better penetration and I have gotten several pass-throughs. Just from my experience with deer and hogs, I would be a little worried about the power of the Bulldog. I eventually bought the full-size Texan for use in the stand, keeping my carbine for stalking hogs in the heavy stuff.
