Benjamin Bulldog and cheap .38 bullets

I tried out these Hornady 158 grain hollow points.

The lead is harder than we need but I can get sub 1" groups teathered at 50 yards at 800 fps for 210 ft lbs.

Un teathered 1.5" at 50 yards.

Nice shooting great picks and I'm using the 145 gr ballistic bullets by nosler out of my benjamin and getting pretty consistent groups at 50 yards. I also tried the 115 gr air venturi hollow points and they hit hard but arent very accurate out of my bulldog.

Same here with all of air venturi ammo.

They measure .355

The noslers are about $88 per round unless you buy 3 and get 4th free at P.A.

These Hornadys are about $.09 per round.

My goal is to find cheaper affordable ammo

Missouri Bullet Company has a good selection of coated grooved bullets. I would think with the grooves and polymer coating the barrel friction would be less and save a fair amount of air.

I have used them for years to reload for 45-70 and have been very satisfied with quality and service.

Shippings is $14 for up to 65 pounds of bullets.

Use code: THR-Original for another 5% discount.

I found a few others to try.

I seen some synthetic coated bullets as well.I also found some really soft lead bullets too.

I was thinking of trying some of the coated bullets but they only went down to 12 in hardnesses, which is still a bit hard for our pressures, and needed sized down as well. Who made the the soft lead unit's, and how soft were they?

Lots of good ammo avalible made for airguns.

I target and plink so spending $20 for 100 or $30 for 100 is not my choice.

I will find a .38,.357,9mm round that cost $10 per 100 that will suit my needs. That is my current quest. So far with the Hornady .38 sized to .357 I can get 1" groups at 50 yards I have sub 1" at 40 yards.

I have some 115 grain hollow points in the mail 9mm sized to .358 that way I can size them to .357 with a die if needed.

I bought some off the shelf .38 hornady 148grain hollow point wad cutters.

I'm done buying pellets

These have a low b.c. so its essentially a 148 grain pellet.$23 for a box of 250 they are sized .359"

Run them through a Lee precision. 357 die/press its 3/4"-1" groups at 50 yards.Expanded over 1/2" in soft loose soil.10 cents per round and avalible locally.Shooting at 800 fps and 210 ft lbs

Today I received a package from GT bullets.

Some 155 grain semi wad cutters.115 grain round nose and some 148 grain wad cutters.

I must say the 148 grain wad cutters stole my heart and I found the mold for it.

51 yards and a 7/8" ctc groups on a stock bulldog.

I drilled out barrel and valve port to .260" and removed transfer port, tightened hammer spring all the way and that gave me 840 fps with 158 grains for 242ft lbs.Todays test I installed the transfer port and backed off hammer spring to factory settings.

Fps unknow......guessing 730 is fps.

The black bullseye is 7/8"

Love these .38 wad cutters.I order them in .358 and I size them to .357.

Try one of the HBWC turned around and shot in the soft soil. The expansion will amaze you. We shot them backwards all the time from handguns at 7-800 fps. Don't know how accurate they'll be at distance though. Also if I remember correctly when purchased in bulk, (1000-5000) you could save 1 or 2 cents each.

I watched a YouTube video on the same last week. Amazing expansion turned around backwards!
