Benjamin Benjamin Marauder .22 semi auto, forward assist stuck open.

Benjamin Marauder .22 semi auto, forward assist is stuck open. Fresh out of the box, I shot about eight clips; down to about 1200 psi. I filled it to about 2700 psi, and loaded a fresh clip. I got one shot out, then a blank. I pulled the trigger once more thinking it was a misfire, nothing again. I took the clip out and it came out with the o ring pinched in it. Now the bolt is stuck open and won't close. Any suggestions before I start taking it apart?

The button is not any real type of forward assist. If the bolt is stuck open there is a good chance that there's some type of lead or plastic debris inside of there holding it open, or something like a spring is broken and lodged holding it open. There bolt has a long spring that operates it, and it works (more or less) on momentum when everything is fee and clear to move the way it was designed.

Take a close look at the magazine. You may find that there is pieces of the inner gears broken off. The probe smashing the magazine is common if the magazine isn't cycling as quickly as it should based on bolt timing. This slow cycling/timing has a number of causes, including heavy long pellets or slugs, or if some pellets were loaded up backwards, or going too far beyond the system parameters while "tuning". Slow cycling can also smash the corner of a pellet's skirt off, sending this debris backwards into the receiver.

Before tearing it down, try holding the charging handle all the way back, pointing the muzzle down, while blowing compressed air around the inner areas to dislodge any lead or plastic debris.

Also try pulling the charging handle all the way back and pull the trigger to release the sear and de-cock it. Something may have locked things with the trigger/sear engagement mechanisms.

Absolutely no experience with the semi marauder but my guess is that a pellet somehow dropped into the action.

Maybe you could dislodge it with a few bumps on the hand while letting gravity take its course holding the muzzle towards the ground?

This is a W.A.G so don't take it as a definitive diagnosis, only trying to blindly offer assistance.

I got impatient and took it apart. Not sure what the issue was. As soon as I pushed on the bolt pin, it sprung free and everything looked like it was working fine. I just hope that this was a fluke occurrence. I was really going back and forth about getting the SAM over the bolt action, more moving parts usually means more issues. Here's the first one.

Something there definitely needs addressed to have that lock open like that. I have been inside of mine multiple times to modify the parts and ports and then tune it for heavier pellets and pfe. Inside, I polished everything that slides on anything. You should see "witness marks" where things drag and or rub a little, and this is what needs smoothed and polished.

I looked around while it was open and didn't see any obvious marks. Thanks for putting it in my head, I'll be sure to take it apart a few times to check on things. I might even take a picture each time. I've only shot about 100 or so pellets, any new marks should be easy to spot.

I shoot my SAM from 3000 psi down to 2000 psi & i get 55 regulated shots. You stated you shot 10 mags-(80) shots? I'm not sure what the SAM reg is set at but i would bet you were off the reg at 1200 psi. This will affect the cycling of the action. 50 shots are what they advertise, so i wouldn't go below 2000 psi. I sent mine back under warranty last year for mag jams & got it back in 2 weeks with a new magazine & a test target. They said they replaced the hammer pin & the. cocking handle. So far so good. It's just not as accurate as i expected!!
