Could be a dumb question but I gotta ask, way back when the benjamin marauder first came out you could fill with co2 is this still the case with newer marauders?

Short answer - yes if you are willing to re-tune it.
Longer answer - You can fill virtually any PCP with CO2 but it will require a significant change to the tune to get it working efficiently.
The biggest difference is the amount of hammer strike needed to open the valve pressurized with 2500psi (air) is vastly higher than is needed for 850psi (CO2). If no adjustments are made, it would blow out massive amounts of CO2 per shot. Not only is it wasteful but it causes a self-cooling that changes the pressure which means the velocity will not be consistent.
