Benjamin benjamin marauder HDD question

Hello all, I picked up a benjamin marauder gen 2 that had an air leak. I put a seal kit in it and fixed that. Also an Hdd kit from air guns of AZ. Set spring length at 2” per instructions. So my big newbi question is what would be the starting setting? Instructions don’t say anything about an initial set screw setting. Would think a distance from the bolt face to the air valve pin? Anyone have knowledge with this kit?

Having the hammer in freeflight (gap of .02"-.04") is always ideal in most pcps (I don't need to on mine, muahaha).

In terms of actual turns in/out I can't help there, best to go over a chronograph and tweak until you get a reasonable velocity between 800-900 fps with your rifles favored pellet.

There is also a vms (velocity meter screw) present on the airtube on the right side of the gun, generally need to remove the stock to access, I modified my stock originally to be able to adjust without remove, that screw is generally best kept 5-6 turns out so its fully open (there should be 2 screws, one that retains/locks in the 2nd one just passed the first).

Thanks Matt, I set the metering screw at 4-1/2 turns. Don’t have a chronograph. I was thinking .starting at 02 - .04 and backoff till pellet drops a little but unsure. This is my first airgun.

4 1/2 - 5 turns is perfect. A chronograph can go a long ways to help tuning and they can be had for 20-30$. Check amazon or aliexpress.

cant tune a pcp without a chrono.

youll have no way to find the bell curve without one.

they are a crucial accessory when tuning pcp's
