The prod is only a .22 cal. You can fit a .25 cal. Barrel, but then you will need to mill the receiver to fit it. Then you need to have a custom build magazine. Also last you will need a custom probe for the .25 cal. Too much work for no benefit. Since the prod isnt that power. I'm getting like 680 to 700 fps with .22. If modified to .25, I'm guessing 500 to 600 fps which is under power. Also very low shot count. The .25 marauder rifle have only 16 good shots and that is 215cc airtube. The prod only have 60cc. So a small gun like the prod in 25 cal will have so little shot count it's not worth it. Why do you think crosman didnt make a .25 cal? No benefit. No point.

What sucks about a Prod is there is a ton of aftermarket items, parts are only a phone call away and cheap. It’s sucks that it is usually very accurate with the cheapest of pellets that can be purchased at Walmart. I also hate that it’s power to weight, length and price ratio is about perfect. It also sucks that it’s a great platform to learn on and modify. What a horrible gun. Buy something heavy, expensive, super powerful but still not powerful enough and pray you can get parts or have to wait forever to get them.

I don’t have a problem at all if someone bashes a product. Just state why and be able to back it with facts. Then let the readers decide on the credibility. I see too many crap guns getting bragged about. When the poor unsuspecting buyer googles his future purchase, he sees only the sugar coated or the I owned it 10 minutes now I am going to brag about it review. Don’t discourage people from raining on a parade. It’s not productive. Just discourage how they do it.

To the OP... Do you have a Prod already or are you shopping for a gun? If I may, I would recommend that you also look at the Kral NP03 carbine. It is available in . 177, .22 or . 25. It shares many good traits with the Prod, but has a better stock IMHO and has a side lever which I prefer.

I have one in stock form. It averages about 30 shots from 2800 to 1400 fill. Not that loud for a pcp pistol in stock form. I put a Sumo on it from Donny and the only noise the gun makes is a ping from the air tube. 40 yards is my longest lane at my home range and 1'' groups are not uncommon off a rest. Trigger is very adjustable on 1st and 2nd stage. I have plenty of airguns that cost way, way, way more than what I have into this thing. The early models had a lousy trigger like the one on a friends gun, the one I purchased has an upgraded trigger and is very nice. Easy to adjust the hammer spring tension and length of hammer travel. They come with the carbine stock and pistol grips. 329 bucks at Joe Bob Outfitters, $307 at Crosman till they bump the price back up. I've adjusted the trigger and put a Sumo on it and that's it. Wish you were closer that way you could shoot it. I think you would be impressed.

Under 345 bucks and you're shooting a good piece of equipment that is self serviceable, accurate & fun. It does well putting holes in paper and is a dream in the woods because of the short length and light weight. I really can't complain about the gun.

Well, I don't think the P-rod makes much noise without a moderator, but my friend has a moderator on his P-rod. We sit side by side when we shoot and all I hear out of his is the hammer hitting the valve. I've never tried, but I would bet that if I was fifty feet away, I wouldn't even hear the hammer strike. P-rod accurate? Yes, we shoot out to fifty yards all the time ad don't seem to have any problem hitting what we aim at at all.

I didn't know they had different triggers on early versions of the Prod?

Can early versions be adjusted to perform like later versions, or do parts need to be replaced?

IMO - The prod has no power, its loud for a small pistol hard to shoot off hand without a extended stock the trigger is horrible should I go on or is that enough? Like I said before my opinion just like your!

Your opinion on it is valid as a pistol. But most users are turning it into a mini carbine, a totally different beast. They are also heavily modified by some as you must know. It is a proven platform. A mini carbine is great for pesting in barns, buildings, pens, stalls, etc.

My buddy's p-rod had a trigger assembly that looked like it was out of a 2240. New lighter spring and a super sear from AOA and it was a lot better. The trigger assy on my gun is the lower half of the pic

The P-ROD trigger assembly (2220-035) should look like the lower picture, not the top picture. Your buddy's P-rod had the wrong trigger. The 2220-103 drop sear works a lot better than the other.
