Benjamin Marauder pistol vs. Crosman 1720

So after researching these two pistols the only difference that I can see is the marauder is a multi shot the Crosman 1720 is a single-shot. The Crosman is 17 caliber as opposed to the Benjamin being 22 caliber. can anyone elaborate on why I should spend an extra hundred plus dollars for the Crosman .I will probably be using it for a little bit of small game, some backyard plinking and possibly field target competition. Granted if I know myself I will probably end up with all of the above and possibly six others before I am finished .air rifles are the most addicting sport I have ever gotten involved with

yeah get both .. the crosman is geared more towards target .. the prod is a serious hunting tool, and my particular example im going to have to say would be very hard to beat with a 1720 .. id get a prod first ... and .22 has simply more stopping power on nutters than 177 .. that said id love to add the 1720 to my arsenal .. right after an urban ... the 'gopher slayer guy' has me sold on getting one of those lol ..

If going for small game- .22 (vs. 177) all the way. 

We have a pest problem at my business, so we have 3 designated shooters on the premises. One of the "shop" guns is a .177 and it's WAY harder to anchor the critters than with the 22's. It is virtually night and day.

Hello Had a Marauder and for its price, size, weight, and shot count (32 on a fill) you can not go wrong for a pesting/ plinking gun out to 30 yds. You can use a hand pump even a standard scuba tank and get 30+ fills with a 1800 to 2800 psi fill. Many accessories are also available, great little gun you can't go wrong Eric

I have both,I like both,they are different.For your needs the Prod seems to be a better choice,plus you can do more with it...

The 1720 is a better target pistol and a good shot shouldn't have any problems with it being a .177,that said I do like the multi shot .22 Prod,I have mine in a SC carbine stock,my Prod trigger is great,it is accurate enough and Fun.atw I have Bugman scope on it...

Sure. It's generally more accurate, and definitely a better field target gun.

Crosman has the Lothar barrel and the Benji .22 barrel is known to be more picky about pellet choice.

For target shooting at 10 - 25 meters and for hunting within 40 meters, the 1720t is ideal.



At 10 meters you CANT miss.

To me the difference of single shot vs multi shot is a huge diffefence. To take it one step further, bolt action vs lever action is another big jump. They all acomplish the same end goal of slinging lead down range, but the FUN factor is different in my experience. For a target pistol the 1720T or 1701p shine. For an all around pester the P-rod is a classic. If you can do a little work (modding) yourself, the PP750 lever action, is a blast and about the same money. Just saying, you can't go wrong with any of the choices above depending on what you want to do with them. I will point out that the PP750 is not made in the USA and that may be another thing to consider.

1720t is a pellet stacker under 40 yards with just about any pellets at any speed!!! It’s always my fault when the pellet holes aren’t touching at 20 yards. It is ridiculously accurate in carbine form, my longest squirrel kill was 47 yards with only 7fpe leaning against a fence post. To get multishot 177 as accurate as the 1720t you need to spend minimum 2x more money, the bsa ultra or CLX is probably the only next step up with similar accuracy without going full length like the LW marauder. AA TX200 multishot is also right there but a bit longer, although no where nearly as long as challenger or marauder. 


btw the Prod won’t be anywhere near competitive in FT while 1720T(T for target) is made for FT competition.
