Benjamin Benjamin model 132 year?

Hello air gun people. My 132 pistol was my late fathers. I am not sure of the year made and there is no serial number. It has a brass rear site so I think from what I read it’s pre 1950. Anyway of finding out the actual year? The gun pumps but it won’t fire. It’s not in the best shape so I assume it needs a complete overhaul. Can seals still be obtained? IMG_0085.jpeg

No, probably no way to discern your 132's birth year.

My first book (of 5), The Manic Compressive (copyright 1998) included five 8.5x11" pages of model dating of Benjamin, Crosman and Sheridan airguns. The first year of production of Benjamin 132 models (as taken from Benjamin factory letters) was 1942. I doubt Benjamin was concerned enough with keeping more detailed records than that for you to uncover more information than that, however most models evolved/devolved to various degrees during their production runs.

Given your's has wood furniture and traces of it's original brass construction, plated in nickel, under a black top finish, it's certainly an early version. Here's how nice it would have looked in the 1940's-

The Benjamin model 250 (BB) was Benjamin's first Co2 pistol, first produced in 1952. The 252 (.22, pictured), and 257s (.177) were produced starting when I did, 1953. The 25x pistols used the little 8 gram disposable cartridges.

Crosman's first Co2 pistols were bulk-fill (starting in 1949), and included a 10 ounce fill tank. A highly customized Crosman 111 (by Ron Robinson)-

Sheridan didn't produce Co2 guns until 1974, Co2 pistols until 1977.
