Benjamin new to me

Olshaky,
First bigtime airgun was 2018 Benjamin Trail NP XL .22 purchased from neighbor for $25. He owned for a year and hated it, said belonged in town dump, too hard to cock, no accuracy and heavy. Good barrel cleaning, modification of Crosman trigger, learning "artillery hold," and finding preferred pellet (H&N Sniper Magnum 17.90 grain) resulted in a fairly decent shooter, no comparison to my PCPs, but a powerful 30-40 yard pesting tool. Enjoy occasional shooting but 27-pound cocking effort gets old. Glad to have in collection, would be a great survival gun if everything hits the fan. WM

Crosman triggers make accurate shooting next to impossible, YouTube has great upgrade solutions. Clean the barrel to remove preservative grease. "Artillery hold" is also a given, research and practice. Finding preferred pellet could be a challenge, H&N no longer makes Sniper line of pellets, buy a "sampler pack" it's a cost-effective way to search. I never did more than this but a recent YouTube video on the Benjamin tear-down and re-work might be of interest. WM

I just shot the first time a few minutes ago, I bought some H&N, Appollo, and crosman pellets, I measured them all just to see any diff and the apollo was .005 less in dia and the H&N were.03 less in dia where the crosman read .185 in dia picking 5 out of each tin random, and the crossman is louder at fire than the other ones, so I'm learning yes the trigger is horrible I have jewells on my centerfires at 1.5 oz it was like all day for it to go boom...it was fun though plus I got a small workout :p:p:p:ROFLMAO:

Yeah, I almost passed out holding my breath, squeezing the trigger, waiting for gun to go off. The YouTube fix I used was the radio-controlled racing car wheel bearing Traxxas 5114 5x8 MR85-2RS sold on Amazon, brand TRB RC, (www.trbrc.com). Lost that "lawyer" spring, too. Made a world of difference, Charley de Tuna makes a replacement trigger that accomplishes the same. WM

Here's a scope ring (Monstrum) set I used for more eye relief, didn't want to trim wooden stock, so went this route. WM

Some pics of trigger mechanisms before work, always good idea, IMHO. Didn't find modifications very hard, just make sure not to lose "C" clip. The racing car bearing fits perfectly on shaft to take up extra space, Charlie Tuna's new trigger takes up extra space by design. Best of Luck, WMView attachment 329716View attachment 329717
thanks for the help I appreciate it👍👍👍👍

Brown garbage is rust preventative and yep, they over do it. Takes some elbow grease but it does come out. CDT trigger is definitely a major improvement and a simple drop in. You might also consider changing what are probably still the plastic pivot bolt washers they're so fond of but waer quickly and can cause problems.
Borrowed this from a member of another forum, but a pdf file on how to make your own, much better ones:

Olshaky,
Sounds good, looks like you're on the way. "Waiting for bearing for trigger," sounds like route I took versus Charlie DeTuna trigger. The CDT trigger would be nice, but bearing is less expensive and gets the job done. My Traxxas bearings arrived in a two pack, so used the other to "fix" the trigger on my Crosman F4 Nitro Piston. Don't think 2-pack cost more than a few bucks. Best of luck on the trigger work. WM

you know I have no clue what your talking about, I'm just clueless, I read the pdf but some days I have a hard time soaking up anything, I will try to find some exploded drawings of my rifle and get these parts figured out..the brass washers I can make on my DP looks like I need to get a small lathe, and start making small parts..thanks for the info It's greatly appreciated...thanks again
